Hierarchy of Priorities

The Hierarchy of Priorities is the guidelines that all members of Thast Mondavrik - City society must abide by. While there are strict responsibilities and expections of each person due to the Castes and Clans of Thast Mondavrik, there is some flexibility in how these responsibilites can be carried out and by whom. Conflict, competition, and even sabotage between castes and clans, and even within the same caste and clan are common everyday occurances in Thast Mondavrik. Oftentimes the downfall of one member of Thast Mondavrin society leaves room for someone else to get ahead. The Hierarchy of Priorities is meant to keep this practice from leading Thast Mondavirk into anarchy.   At the top of the Hierarchy of Priorities is Thast Mondavrik itself. The good of the city and the continent must come before all and if any act of competition or sabotage jeopardizes that it is considered the highest level of treason.   The next tier of the Hierarchy of Priorities is Castes. As long as whatever act someone is considering does not harm their own caste, then many will do whatever it takes to make sure their caste is the most influential in the city/nation at the cost of the others. If the act someone takes does end up harming their caste's reputation then the punishment is often castelessness.   Next in the Hierarchy of Priorities is Clans. Similar to castes, every member of Thast Mondavrin society wants their clan to be the most powerful. To this regard, as long as they don't jeopardize their own clan, they will often sabotage another's to put their own ahead. The punishment for harming your own clan's reputation in this way though is often clanlessness.   After Castes and Clans in the Hierarchy of Priorities comes oneself. Only acts of minor pettiness and sabotage reach this level in the Hierarchy of Priorities and often go unnoticed. Many would sabotage someone else in their own caste and clan if it puts themselves further without jeopardizing anything higher in the Hierarchy of Priorities. Any punishment for crimes commited against this tier in the Hierarchy is often settled by the parties involved or the Emissary Caste.   Finally, at the bottom of the Hierarchy of Priorities is the Casteless. The Casteless are pariahs in Thast Mondavrin society and should only be considered, if ever, after every other member higher on the Hierarchy of Priorites is taken care of.
