Fey

The Fey are an Origin Species on Vyril. They were there from the creation of the planet. Effectively Immortal - old age nor disease kill them - they measure time by events framed in Aeons. They have the capacity to be God-like, with the most ambitious among them causing world-changing events. Others are more mundane and blend in with every day society.

Appearance

Full blooded Fey have gray skin and blue, faintly glowing bioluminescent lines and runes on their skin unique to each individual. There is usually a red rune birth mark that ties the families together. The mark can be located anywhere, though it is in the same place for each bloodline. Gray, gold, and blue are common eye colors. Their heights range anywhere from 4' to 7'. Fey are very magically inclined and are quick to attune themselves to the magic of any plane they find themselves on - it comes naturally to them. If not, they have all the time to learn it.

Population / Relations

Because they are Immortal, they're not an overly fertile race and casual relations aren't frequent. They usually marry for eternity. Divorce is almost unheard of. Rather, a mated pair might take a 'break' from one another for extended periods of time - as long as either one might need - but they do not split 'for good'. This makes relationships of almost any kind important to them.

Not a particularly rushed people, they can become quite intense and driven about certain obsessions unique to each individual. On a whole, they view most other races as amusing. Killing a Fey tends to earn the collective ire of the Fey population.

Their cities are really well integrated in the jungles they live in, blending quite seamlessly with the land. They're well maintained as a point of pride and arrogance. If a Fey can't be bothered to do something, they'll pay a short lived race to do it. This means their cities are often open to other races. The Fey, while being narcissistic, are also quite curious and willing to watch other races 'flounder'. The Navithesk Empire is notoriously open to anyone so long as they obey the laws of the Empire.

The Fey, and the Empire, have a longstanding neutrality stance with most of Vyril. Generally, they don't need to go to war and curiously find that any country, nation, or race that wishes to war with them oddly at a disadvantage or suddenly hard pressed by another country, race, or country. The Fey, usually, are not fighters themselves. They prefer the political games, playing so that other races, cultures, and nations will do so for them. That isn't to say they can't. There are plenty that do, and do so well. But they'd rather the shorter lived races fight amongst themselves.
Usually the Fey are able to predict a conflict and prevent it, or get someone else to deal with it.

Religion

It is important to note, in a realm of divine, the Fey have no gods. At least, no otherworldly gods. No divinity. That's because their immortal souls, their 'afterlife', is Vyril. In this way, Vyril is classified as their 'divine' realm. Their souls only exist on Vyril, and by extension Torresind and Namkural, and cannot be sustained elsewhere . If a Fey dies, they cease to exist. For this reason, it is a grave sorrow and high crime to kill a Fey. No Fey will ever willingly kill another Fey.

Names

Fey have four names. Birth name ( First name ), family name, married name ( name of the family they marry into ), and a personal name ( for friends, family, chosen when they become adults ).
