Blood Moon

A Blood Moon is a total lunar eclipse that happens when a world is between its sun and moon. The moon then takes on a blood red hue. It happens once or sometimes twice a year. Usually, a Blood Moon gives a vampyr increased energy and a euphoric natural high.
The vampyr astronomers are able to forecast most astronomical events several years in advance. Lunar events are particularly important to vampyrs because the moon has a lot of influence over them, from sensory effects to helping them predict things such as the weather. An almanac is produced each year for the following year so everyone can plan with the moon. In the case of the Blood Moon, the people of Vyrvania are then given license to hold a festival and parties to celebrate the event. It is a good time for them to release their emotions in a positive way and plan what they want to manifest in the future.

This event has been tainted somewhat since the Blood Wrath Moon and the terrible passing of Serafina Thornwood, the wife of Garrick Thornwood. Even though Garrick no longer attends the festivities, he still requests that the people of Vyrvania still embrace this time, as this is what the late first lady, Serafina Thornwood would have wanted.

Her love of the arts and entertainment must live on.

So a Blood Moon is also now an official Public Holiday and a committee set up headed by the lime-light loving Michelle Thornwood, to make sure that the festival is as bright and bold as it can be - no expense spared by the Thornwoods. Garrick, watches at a distance from the Thornwood estate torn by his bittersweet memories of the life he shared with his late wife and beautiful blood-sworn soulmate.
