Pramanix

A portrait of Pramanix in his study.

Vierix Pramanix was a philosopher, mathematician, scientist, artificer, diviner, biomancer, Lichlord and Colonial God of the New Rozsan Empire, in the First Age of Waking Materia.

Among other major developments, he was responsible for begetting an entire lineage of Galateids separate from the Nibelheimer one. Though they were primarily soldiers for Vierix Chelicerax, he is also thought to be the creator of the cheliceran race as well, making him a creator god of not one but two species.

Art is generally of a plain-looking man in his 40s or 50s with rounded spectacles and a hunch (unusual in that the Lichlords had access to bioengineered eyes and spines). Shaded glasses were reasonably common for those with Rozsan due to a preponderance of drow-like genetics, and therefore an intolerance for the realtively bright Materian Aurora.

History

A reclusive genius in a similar vein to God-Empress Nir herself, very little information has survived on Pramanix, who seemed to disdain fame or empty conversation. Much of his work seemed to revolve around the meeting of the physical and metaphysical, the barrier between life and death, alchemy and magic, hoping to find a consistent underlying model of all things. He was especially interested in the Veil between Waking Materia and its sleeping counterparts. Inevitably following in his wake was a flock of scribes, understudies, assistants and inquirants.

To have been granted Lichdom by Nir's Temporal Vanguard (the rarest of honours), Pramanix's work must have been considered extremely valuable to the New Rozsan Empire. One likely cause was his independent discovery of the Elder Laws of making Galateids, making him the root of one of only two Lineages on Waking Materia. (The other being the ancient Nibelheimers.)
