Gothica

Gothica is one of the 'closest' planes accessible via siege gate or brute force application of magic. It is a grim land of night and strife, where the unprepared die quickly and in terror.

The surface, during the day, is the realm of the Gothic Knights and the undead. The knights on occasion take the fight to the grim castles where the vampire lords plot against the remaining humans, and the undead farm and clear land. Humans are so valuable that even the knights approve of this necromancy, whereas the vampires simply despise menial labor. The days are short, and there are still dangers in the deep woods, but at least one can (in a clearing) look to the sky in brief safety.

At night, the vampires roam, accompanied by packs of every dark creature from fairytales and nightmares. Some are practical, seeking to survey their domains, root out any underground sanctuaries too close to their fortresses, and to simply lord over the world. Others are bloodthirsty monsters, little better than the creatures they lead.
The mortals of Gothica are broadly divided into three camps: those that collaborate with the vampires and provide blood tribute, those that hide (Spriggans, Wildfolk Tieflings, Beastfolk hidden villages), and those who resist.

Chief among those who resist are the Gothican humans, who live underground, and besiege the tyrants of the night during the short days

Some of the Vampiric Lords are little better than demons of rage, consumed by hunger and avarice, ravaging all that they can without mind for the future. Others out of a corrupt sense of Nobless Oblige pretend or truly do try to make the lives of their 'subjects' better. The vast majority of the Vampires view their 'cattle' as valuable but without agency or individuality, as a cold Shepard might view their flock.

The wildfolk, spriggans, beastfolk, and witches of the woods all try to survive in their own ways, often switching sides as needed. Gothicans on rare occasions have made temporary pacts with Vampires, usually to extinguish a truly wretched abomination.
