Mountain-Elves

Mountain-Elves (better known simply as "Greenies") are a dominant race of the Mountains. Greenies live alongside the Foxlings and neighboring Sapiens and maintain frequent trade with the Abra-Comanches.   It is said that the Elves came from an island across the sea, far away from Ka'a'. Their Magic Level is Green, Flank Gold.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Elves are unusually beautiful in face and body. There is little physical difference between males and females except for the fact that males have silver hair and females have gold. Elves are light on foot, can travel long distances without leaving tracks, and often can walk lightly across snow where the boots of mortals would sink. They do not require sleep, but are able to enter a deep meditative-state to regain their strength, which means they can never tire. Although the Elves are more resistant to adverse environments and lack of food than mortals, they can succumb to them.

Biological Traits

Elves are very similar to Comanches and Sapiens. Unlike them, however, they are immortal, in that their bodies do not age once they have reached maturity, so that they do not seem to become elderly or die of old age. They can be killed by physical injury however, or they may come to death from wasting away if after long eons of life they lose the will to live.

Genetics and Reproduction

Elves, like Sapiens and Comanches, reproduce naturally.

Growth Rate & Stages

Elves come of age at around fifty years old, and generally marry around this age. Elves who marry late or never are said to have strange fates. Elves can tell in the eyes and voice of another Elf whether they are married, and it is against an Elf's nature to take another by force; one so forced would reject bodily life and die.

Ecology and Habitats

Forests, deserts.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Elves are vegetarian, consuming various leaves, shrubs, fruits, nuts and berries in the forests.

Gender Ideals

Elvish women are alike in manner, voice and appearance to their menfolk. They are few in number, less than a third of all Elves, and they are seldom seen outside their own homes, often not venturing far due to their duties as caretakers and crafters in Elvish society. They typically only travel when in great need, and they usually dress similarly to the men. Female Elves are as fierce as their male counterparts, especially in protecting their families and offspring. Children, babies especially, are carried around in hjöldsters, large leather pouches slung around the hip with a belt for easy traveling.

Courtship Ideals

Elves are usually polygamous, and fewer than one-third of Elvish men take wives, the rest busying themselves with their crafts. Elves lose interest in intimacy after they've had children. They do not consider the day a child was born as the moment they came into existence. Instead, they celebrate the day the child's parents begat them.

Relationship Ideals

Because of the lack of intimacy that occurs when Elves marry, and because of the eternal nature of Elvish souls, they may frequently divorce and have multiple marriages. It is not uncommon for an Elf to have been re-married thousands of times with millions of children. Elves have a taboo against incest, but marriage among second cousins is seen as acceptable. This does not result in degradation from strong bloodlines, but rather intensifies the magic that already runs in the family.

Average Technological Level

Typically swords, axes, hammers, mattocks and bows.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

They speak Ka'aian and Foxspeak.

Common Dress Code

Black, silver, gold, blonde and auburn dresses are generally worn by Elves. Elves favor simple durable clothing, coloured hoods and heavy cloaks for travelling, and belts of gold or silver. For battle their soldiers have elaborately crafted armor and helmets, bearing various angles and styles that are trademarks of Elvish crafting.

History

According to legend, a group of Comanches (named as Johnathan Pucikwar, Nico Iminye and Chunta Kente) came across six, nine, and twelve pairs of Elves, and each man claimed the pairs as his people to rule. The men and their Elves journeyed across Abra and past the Frontier, finally finding more Elves. All in all they numbered 144. The men and the 144 Elves settled down in a large forest-area, where they established the first Elvish-Kingdoms. The 144 Elves spread their kingdom after the three leaders passed away. Each Elvish Kingdom is ruled by the Elffolk, descendants of the three Comanche men and Elvish women. Elffolk are essentially Elves with Comanche blood in their veins, and can be characterized by their big brown eyes instead of blue.
