Classless Badlands
Ruins of the Forgotten.
Located South of the Redwood Transit, east of Dimond Lakes, and north of Gold Wheat Feilds lies a dangerous testament to the forgotten era. Rolling ruin covered hills of grass, rust, and sprawling underground cave systems holding secrets of the past. The denizens who live in this broken landscape are rarely similar to one another. Some are raiders praying on the weak, some are tinkerers learning secrets of the ancients, and some are simply traders trying to reach the Copper Mountains. The rare few trying to tame this landscape have formed the only major trading hub in the area called Rail Town.Geography
Consisting primarily of rugged grassy hills, the Classless Badlands is absolutely covered in the ruins of the forgotten era. The ancient monolithic structures jut from behind every other hill, with some of the hills being made up of broken structures buried from time. Valleys and pits occasionally punctuate the cliffs and ridges of the area. Near the northern side of the region is a jagged coastline, the waters of the cold sea hide the ancient rusted hulks of ships half-buried in the sand.
Many are drawn to the badlands for what is beneath the surface. As under the land is an impressive landscape of tunnels, caves, and passages. Most caverns are of clear forgotten era construction being all metal and glass, many come from natural causes and some being scars of a long concluded war.
History
Its unknown to the Awoken what transpired here during the forgotten era. Many who have tried to learn its history have vanished into the endless tunnels beneath the land.
The first Awoken to arrive in the badlands, would be the Plains Tenders, who discovered the landscape after the conclusion of their initial war with We of the Sand. However, when discovered their attempts to settle the territory were a failure. Leading to their militants and trading lines being pulled from the area which left many without protection and supplies. It was those Awoken that would become the first denisens of the Classless Badlands, however they were soon joined by the stragglers left behind during the exodus of the Mountain Striders from We of the Sand.
Despite the soil being practically unsuitable for farming, making many Awoken scattered to their own corners of the landscape. Many banned together, forming the trade city of Rail Town to take advantage of the trade routes opening between Fields Union and theĀ Copper Mount Militia.
