Ontomobiles (On-to-mobiles)

Vehicles of a New Era.

While many Awoken still rely on Cags and other pack animals, many more are working towards the future of transportation. Ontomobiles, are vehicles which rely on the gravity defying effects of Green Ontologite to create low air hover craft for an affordable price. The speed, and maneuverability of these vehicles has lead them to become popular with anyone traveling long distances over rough terrain. Each major faction have found or created different roles and formats for the Ontomobile. Examples include the antiquated Airiot, the high flying Hovergyro , or the reliable Ontocarriage. A common problem with Ontomobiles is their own benefit, their lack of connection with the ground can make some collisions in the air disastrous unless the vehicle is designed with this in mind.

History

While its discovery is unknown, the earliest version of Ontomobiles were custom-built units made by Awoken during the Age of Fables. These early versions were built using Forgotten Era wrecks that would be retrofitted with rudimentary systems that are considered outdated by the Age of Discovery. Early Ontomobiles were extremely slow, but stable craft often pulled by pack animals across long distances. Once Awoken discovered how to gain propulsion from the same anti-gravity fields that allow these vehicles to hover did Ontomobiles become a more common sight in developed places. Still, the vehicles are mainly associated with military groups, travelers, and the wealthy of Plenumia.

Manufacturing

While the materials to build Ontomobiles can be quite pricey and difficult to get a hold of, much of the training on how to create these vehicles has become common knowledge. While most do not need an Ontomobile, many want one but are reluctant to go through the effort of acquiring one. Military-grade Ontomobiles however are often extremely pricey and considered high-value assets by larger groups though this varies based on the type of vehicle.   To create Ontomobiles a detailed knowledge of Green Ontologite is required, specifically the process of creating a circuit and series of focuses to generate the anti-gravity effect. This circuit is often called a Flight Core, or Transmute Core as more advanced circuits can sometimes offer alternate features such as letting the craft float on the surface of water despite the geometry of the vehicle. Along with this, all Ontomobiles must be built with a balance between stability, and speed due to the nature of the circuit required to build one of these vehicles.
Access & Availability
Commonly available, but mostly seen in the hands of travelers, military personnel, or the wealthy.
Discovery
Originally developed in the forgotten era, but reverse engineered by the Awoken.
