Session 38: Blue Alley: Part 4 - Locked in the Alley Report
General Summary
The party attempted to sleep several times, but were interrupted by Blue Alley's magic mouths morphing into gibbering mouthers, keeping them awake. Runt attempted to kiss one and lost a good portion of his cheek.
Determining the Waterdeep dungeon wasn't going to let them sleep, the party moved delved into the "silver" half of the dungeon. They found an ivory door, which Runt handily picked. Inside was a chest and a mural of many chests of varying sizes, all with pointed teeth. The party was wary the chest was a mimic, but Runt used a long weapon to flip open the chest. As he got closer to see what was inside, the ceiling, the actual mimic dropped on top of him, grappling him. The party subdued the mimic and found some money, a silver key, and a bell inside the chest.
As they moved further down the corridor they found a door to an additional corridor. As Cameron tried to make his way down the hallway, a puddle coalesced into a pair of hands, holding him in place. The party decided to go further down the other hallway eventually finding the barred window that overlooked the room filled with smoke where Cameron and Runt battled smoke mephits.
On their way back down the empty corridor Caelynn's natural perceptiveness noticed a secret door. Inside, they found a room full of wine racks. Most bottles were broken but Cameron found a few ones that were still good. Behind a rack of wine, the party found a 2-foot high gold plated door. The "lock" looks to take not a key, but some kind of coin.
The party also found underneath a wine rack, a long narrow chest that fit a silver key they'd found in the mimic room. Inside the chest were 2 potions of healing and a long sword whose hilt and blade seem to be all one piece of metal.
Checking another door in their initial corridor, the party found a room illusioned to look like a pasture and 2 silos off the north and east of the pasture. Inside the silos were silver-plated ox skulls. Cameron touched one of the skulls and the door to the pasture room closed. He attempted to take one out of the silo and it disintegrated, reforming on the pedestal it once stood. Runt and Cameron touched the skulls at the same time and a minotaur appeared in the pasture, looking confused. It attempted to take a swipe at Andryn who dodged. When they took their hands off the skulls the minotaur disappeared, looking relieved.
The party attempted to get past the bootgrabbers one more time. One charmed Runt and grabbed him, but he was able to escape. The party rolled up the rug they were on and continued down the last corridor, finding a large room with a gem on a dais. Over the gem a sword slowly circled in the air.
