Session XXVII: The Pirates of Pittance Report

General Summary

Richard's monologue was cut short when the dust devil pushed Ruth off the gangplank. Seeing the love of his life fall to her death, Richard pushed another pirate after her and began to parlay with the party. The party believed this to be a ruse and continued to fight the pirates. Garrakas used a spell to teleport behind the pirates, cutting off their escape. Meanwhile, Dalvanak lashed out with his tentacles, but Richard narrowly dodged the flabby appendage. Thaddius blasted the remaining pirates with a fireball, sending them into disarray. 
Richard then began singing a catchy tune that the remaining pirates joined in with that bored into the minds of the party and causing brain hemorrhages. The pirates lashed out with cutlasses while Ruth attempted to undo Thaddius's fireball damage. Yet, Garlith made her healing useless as he let loose with both his hand crossbows, killing one pirate and seriously injuring Ruth. 
While Dalvanak repositioned himself, Zaufanie appeared to support the party and Thaddius used another fireball to lash the remaining pirates, killing another pirate and killing Ruth. Rudewort the Goblin let fly one of his grenades and pistol to bring down Samuel the First Mate. Garrakas used his remaining spells to hold and subsequently grapple Richard, who was trying to escape. The fleet footed pirate king pirouetted and step changed out of reach. 
The party laid into the retreating pirates with Zaufanie missing his shot against Richard, Garlith hitting both Richard and Samuel, and Dalvanak using his psychic powers to rend Samuel from life. After slaughtering Samuel, the first mate, and finally killing Ruth for good, Richard surrendered, despondent with all he loved being gone. 
The party took Richard below and began to question him. Richard revealed that he received his contract from the Man of Dry Bones who works with the Man of Long Shadows. They are looking for Grewarum because the gnome has a piece of the Necronomicon that they want. Richard wanted to die but the party tried to convince him to live. Then Captain Bellweather stomped down the stairs. 
Seeing Richard, he became enraged and violently disemboweled the pirate. He then began to berate Zaufanie for going to the Laughing Beholder. He declared that the party must decide who among them will take Zaufanie's place as the commander of the vessel.
