Staravra

The Old Faith of the Bočetti

Staravra, to the Bočetti simply known as "the Old Faith", is a shamanistic religion that was prominent in Bočechnia before the colonisation by the Grand Knyzate of Urunkhar in the 6th century AZ. It is considered an extinct religion, although sects that still practice the faith in the original, or at least a close to original, form are rumored to exist in Borakhalin. Although the faith has been replaced by the Church of Cherbor over the centuries of Urunkharian colonization, it did merge with Staravra to a certain extend. Popular folk deities like Dogoda, Ozwiena and Morskoy Czar all find themselves as a part of the Cherborian faith these days, although with altered theology.

The Holy Family

Szegud

Father god of the Starvara faith. Husband to Irmina and together with her master over the lands and creators of the lakes. He is depicted as a manly figure holding a longbow and a mace with three heads, symbolising the gods power to decide the fate of those dying on its lands, sending them to either of three afterlives of the faith.

Irmina

Mother goddess of the faith. Wife to Szegud and together with him mistress over the lands and creators of the lakes. She is depicted as a woman with stars upon her dress, symbolising her role as matron of the stars, as well as with a hand on her belly and one holding a whipping cane symbolising motherhood. In Urunkharian her name is Dogoda and was later adopted in some form into the Cherborian faith.

Erknez

First son of the Holy Couple. Considered the Divine General and leader of the armies of Uhunu, the First Afterlife. He is depicted as a man holding a spear enveloped with lightning.

Erlina

First daughter of the Holy Couple. Considered the matron of the fishes. She is symbolised as a woman holding a fish in open arms. The fish, named Vizi Kiraly, is known as Moskoy Tsar in Urunkharian. Bočechnia knows a great number of folklore tales about him and was later adopted as a Cherborian deity himself.

Erszegèd

Second son of the Holy Couple. Considered the Child of the Crafts. Depicted as a boy with a Johykko, a Finish Lyre, in his hands.

Mari

Second daughter of the Holy Couple. Considered the Child of the Crops. Depicted as a girl holding a bundle of grain. Is known as Ozwiena in the Urunkharian tongue and was also adopted later into the Cherborian faith.
