The Soul

"Sáwol, Línghún, Psychí, Soul. Different words, the same thing. It is the Soul, and just the soul, which holds consciousness and the free will. Bestowed upon every sapient creature, it is the Soul what differentiates the sapient from the realms of the nature, free will from beastly instinct."
  • Dr. Theodoros Manassus, Psychiphysicist at the Royal University of Bataque, Vexan
  • Below are only given the old elvish names and their translation, although many tongues have words for these elements.

    Anatomy of a Soul

Souls consist of several parts over several planes of existence, with only a few connections to hold them together.

    The different parts are:

    • Eaftós Xéro, or Self Know. Attached to the Eléftheri Voúlisi, this organ is responsible for the gift of self consciousness. Without this organ, creatures with a soul can think in the I form, or make any thoughts related to the existence of oneself. This organ needs to attune for a while when settled in a new body, the amount differs on the body’s ability to think in the first place. It is found on the Sub-Ethereal Plane.
    • The Eléftheri Voúlisi, or Free Will. Attached to the Eaftós Xéro, this is probably the most intricate part of the Soul, as is it the hardest to create. This organ regulates true free will upon the creature, so that it, limited by the capacity of the creature’s body, can make its own plans, goals and solutions. This organ is responsible for a large portion of natural evolution. It is found on the Sub-Ethereal Plane.
    • Milo Perpromeno, or Destiny's Apple. This serves as a note from Wahyh to the Ápsoga Plásmata, or Immaculate Creatures, the gods of sorts of the Sub-Ethereal plane. Although personality is guided by the brain of the creature's physical body, destiny is more often than not way more subtle. This organ also is responsible for the amount of luck one might have. It is found on the Ethereal Plane.
    • Margaritárós Psychi, or Soul Pearl. This serves as the outer shell of the soul on the Ethereal Plane. It is one of the most unbreakable materials in that plane of existence. It is found on the Ethereal Plane.
    • Choliadénas, or the Choli Gland. It serves as some sort of firewall between the planes. It makes the Choli.
    • Choli. Invisible in all but heat vision, these small organs are the white blood cells of the soul. They are tasked with healing any form of damage to the soul, which they do in much the same way as white blood cells do that, but a lot more effective. It is found on the Ethereal Plane.
    • Spítexousías. A cylindrical purple organ, this is the battery of power for the soul. It serves as the battery for magical power, or mana. All souls have this, although it grows after creation with use, making it the only soul-organ who does so. Those with the Giftmark are marked on this organ. It is found on the Ethereal Plane.
    • Diastatikó Ténontas, or Transplanar Sinews, are the organs that make the connections between the organs on the Ethereal Plane and those on the Sub-Ethereal Plane. They are quite sturdy, but should they be cut, the soul will become completely defunct.

    The Making of a Soul

All souls are hand tailored for every creature and like all things are spun by the group of deities who are known as The Spinning Masters, who work in a devine workplace of sorts known as the Spinning Wheel. Souls specifically are made by Þar Ornin, who has quite a large religious following because of it. Although much of the naming points to a spinning process of sorts that creates the soul, this is a misconception. Souls are more put together like a carpenter puts together a bed with nails than it is intricately sewn together like a linen cloth.
