Defences

Outer Defences

Since Zhongsun is appart from a large tradehub and home to hundreds of thousands of people also the seat of the Emperor, everything is done to keep as much harm as possible from even reaching the city walls in the first place. This is why in the year 530AZ Emperor Kuruckai VI commisioned the buid of 6 frontier forts, being build in a ring around Zhongsun. These are all interconected with tunnels, with the exeption of ''Yàosài III Shí shuǐ'', wich was build in Saishao Lake.

Main Walls

Towering 30 meters high, and being between 10 and 13 meters wide, the main walls of Zhongsun are something to behold indeed. They have never been breeched, despite the Ashar coming close when they besieged the city during the 1st Ashari-Prabaiian war in the year 102AZ. Instead the Ashar took the city only by bribing one of the guards to open the gates for them.

This wall is topped of with a few watchtowers but is primarily fortified with bastions, often holding balistas or onagers.

History

After the Bowing of the Sand Kings in the turning of the Second Era of the Man and the founding of the Empire of Prabai, Zhongsun became the Imperial seat. With the new unification many people, most with hopes of getting a high office in the new founded government, came to the the previously small town at the edge of Saishao Lake.

With the coming of thousands of new people, Zhongsun quickly invested heavy in the removal of the salt rich top layer of the desert, that made it impossible to grow enough crops to sustain the population. After the area around Zhongsun was made ready for agriculture, even more people came over from the more barren parts of the growing empire.

Through the many years, Prabai saw many migration waves towards the city. This also set a growing movement in motion from the old nomadic society towards a mostly Agricultural focused one. This changed the financial focus of Zhongsun in the course of a hundred years from a mostly river fishing focused society to a agricultural one.

After the conquest of the Northern Citystates in the 1st century AD and the East Bank in the 3rd century AD Zhongsun made a shift in civil focus. Since Saishao lake is a large deep lake conecting the 2 Sister Rivers with the Jīnsè Mǔqīn ''Golden Mother'' River, with the entire river system under Prabaiian Control, the city quickly grew out to become a large trade hub for goods from all over the Empire, with the harbor of Zhongsun being the largest tradeport of the Empire for almost a hundred years, despite being over five hundred kilometers away from the ocean. Only in the year 423AD it was outgrown by the tradeport of Nángǎng, wich also held the largest militairy port.
