The Path of Inspiration

Very little is known of this faith to the people of Khorvaire and Xen'drik, but from what they see it is a structured but somewhat xenophobic religion. Followed mostly by the people of Sarlona, the distant eastern continent, it teaches that there are great spirits beyond the world, devotion to them reveals the correct way to live, and a life well lived will be rewarded by reincarnation into a more perfect form.   It imposes a hierarchy on the world, moderately human-supremacist but with hope of reincarnation, and led by "The Inspired", the leaders of the religion and the distant nation of Reidra, and those who speak for the great spirits, the il-atlas.   From lowest to highest, one may hope for reincarnation to a higher form;
  • Unintelligent beasts
  • Nonhumans (dwarves, elves, ogres, shifters etc)
  • Humans
  • Changelings
  • The Inspired, who are guided by the il-atlas
  • The il-atlas, the great spirits who cannot manifest and act through The Inspired
  They teach that foreign religions are corrupted by altavar, evil spirits which fight against the il-atlas, and it is the duty of the Inspired to bring them back to the path. They also warn of creatures such as kalashtar, who house altavar inside them, and must be slain or exorcised before they can join the forces of good.   It has been noted by scholars and historians that the il-atlas bear resemblance to old stories of The Quori, and many rumours of espionage have been laid at the feet of "The Dreaming Dark", an organisation that follows the Path of Inspiration and their il-atlas.
