Naming Traditions

Family names

South Ladi people generally don't identify themselves by family names. They are more likely to be known via occupational titles or references to their home geography. Examples include "the Baker," "of Greentree," "the Cidermaker," "Groveborn," etc.

Culture

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

Among South Ladi merchant families, it is common for young people to take 8-10 months of furlough from responsibility just before applying themselves to a trade. Frequently, this furlough involves travel, exploration of other cultures, adventuring, or other leisure activities. This usually occurs if the family was unable to secure a Squire position when the young person was 15. If squiring does not occur, most children apprentice with a master tradesman from 15-18, take their furlough and begin their working careers upon their return.
