Drow
Drow (Dark Elves) are uncommon in Westfal, approximately equal in prevalence as other types of elves. Drow tend to be cultured and civilised, often amassing great fortunes over their long lives. In major cities there are often areas set aside for Drow, where shops open later, and windows and doors are masked to offer shade from the sunlight. Their skin colour varies form deepest black to purple.
Drow have lost their faith with Llolth who is now considered to be part of a superstitious folklore or legend, having seemingly abandoned the world of mortals. Those Drow who do not follow Serenrae might turn to Sehanine The Moonweaver for worship.
There is a history of conflict with Drow in The Empire which grew out of a war against freeing Humans from Drow conquest at the end of The Time Of Darkness.
Most Drow were driven out of the area at that time. The remnants of their society were accepted into Imperial citizenship and they are now an accepted and often valued part of society.
Very few Drow individuals survived the calamity at the End of The Time Of Darkness. Those that did emerge were young and inexperienced so most of the ancient Drow history and culture was lost. Drow of the empire still have higher respect for females, a vestige of their former Matriarchy
Drow are often valued as mercenaries and soldiers for their versatility and proficiency at underground or night fighting.
Recently there have been rumors of parts of Drow society trying to regroup and rebuild their ancient culture. There are whispers of a sect called the Umbral Enclave who seek to revive their ancient mistress: Lloth who has not been seen in the world for over 1000 years.
The city state of Verdant has a higher population of Drow than many other areas of the empire. Because of this many of its customs revolve around the night and darkenss, although the city still has majority human population.
Drow of the Shadowfell
Drow are very prevalent within the Shadowfell, many of the floating cities main populations are composed of Drow, along with their slaves. Drow societies exist with various leaders, and their seamanship on the dark sea is without compare. Some societies dwell in huge arks that sail the seas consuming all in their path.
