Tieflings are tolerated in the empire, but normally treated with suspicion if their demonic origin is revealed.
They tend to be on the outside of society or even living outside the law, keeping themselves as far as possible from officialdom.
It is rumored that several underground organisations are run by tiefling masters, although this may just be a rumor spread by the religious orders.
Tieflings themselves do not form a single distinct race, with each tiefling displaying traits of their specific demonic origin.
As with most non-human races, they tend to be more tolerated in areas away from the capital, particularly the in the easy-going city of Verdant
