The Secret in the Temple

General Summary

Having discussed the best course of action, the party visited the Temple of Denrah in Livey to ask Tan Peart some questions.   When they got there, they found the temple empty, but stumbled upon a lone acolyte in a side chapel, with an altar covered in blood. Despite the gravity of the situation, Joom Jim immediately went hunting for a hidden door.   The young acolyte, Clive, in a catatonic state and was healed to consciousness by Mochache the Ranger. Ianpip Urina Lilly Sakasys Verin questioned Clive about what he had witnessed, and it came out that the ritual victim had been a human man. By this point, Joom Jim had found the ritual mask - literally a pony's severed head - and was playing with it while Borf the Bombastic improvised some jaunty music.   Joom Jim finally found the secret door that he had suspected and the party - led by Pip with her darkvision - went down some flights of stairs to a long underground corridor of human construction.   The tunnel went on for more than 500 metres when they met a Homebrew Beholder, a highly powerful magical floating eye with teeth. Finding out that he had never been named, Joom dubbed him 'Stalin' and the party tricked him into showing them the ablution chamber, where participants in the ritual cleanse themselves of the blood and yuck. He also laundered and ironed their outfits, which was nice of him.   Bidding farewell to Stalin, the party found that the tunnel led eventually to The Club of Earth, specifically a trapdoor in the first cell in the block where they met Neramew. Neramew greeted them, initially mistaking them for customers, and directed them to the Country Club in search of Peart.   Using the Gangster Coin, Pip and Borf were able to get more information out of Chris the Goblin and soon were hot on the trail. Reaching the Country Club, they met Jeanne Stonefast, Aurelius Porcaro and Tan Peart who were having a conversation at a nearby table. Peart and Porcaro were offensive in their words, and Porcaro referred to his son's girlfriend as a 'beast' and 'it'. Joom Jim pickpocketed the Constable and found a locket with a picture of his dead wife. He kept the photo and slipped the locket into Peart's pocket instead. Stonefast, meanwhile, had taken an instant liking to the misanthropic Mochache the Ranger, who she invited to come and join her company.
