Fraglich
Fraglich is a small settlement located in the foothills of the Grey Mountains where the vegetation is sparse.
Fraglich grew up around a road that leads to a pass through the mountains. They rear sheep and goats in the more fertile grassland around the settlement
The settlement sits on the junction where the roads from Bogenhafen to the east and Amchensee to the south meet and it is surrounded by a defensive ditch and palisade for protection.
The nearest landmark is two trees, an ash and an elm, which have grown up so close that they spiral around each other as they grew trunks and branches pressed together and entwined.
The settlement has a population of about one hundred and fifty people, who live a somewhat a squalid existence.
Government in Fraglich
The village elder is Oliver Sifflet but in practice, daily affairs are handled by his clerk a dwarf named, Torgga Ironfist, who makes all the executive decisions.Economics
Trade in Fraglich is heavily regulated, with taxes, tariffs, and restrictions on what can be brought in and out of the town, and people live a squalid existence because of it. The local trade guild strictly enforces the rules and costs of doing business in Fraglich are high. Welfare services are non-existent. Citizens can expect the absolute bare minimum of medical care and burial services. Education is totally ignored and those unable to fend for themselves starve.Law and Order
There is token watch presence in Fraglich, but it is more for defence against outside intruders than policing the indigenous population. Citizens are expected to follow the law and those that do have nothing to fear from their neighbours. But Law enforcement in Fraglich is overwhelmingly punitive and those that breach the complex and codified list of laws can expect summary justice, based largely on what their victims consider justified. Which given the relatively high population of dwarves and the fact that the town is governed by a dwarf often means public execution. Crime is seen as a stain, which cannot be erased, and only through retribution can it be redeemed. Magic is reserved only for those with a license, which is a relatively simple form to fill out, stating what type of magic you wish to practice, your contact details, a non-refundable bond to cover public liability, and whether it's for commercial or personal use.Racial Demographics
The population of the outpost is predominantly male and most of the adult population are expected to fight if the settlement is attacked. The racial breakdown of the population varies on a daily basis but is generally as follows:- Dwarf 17%-20%
- Wood Elves 2%-3%
- Gnomes 4%-5%
- Halfling 11%-15%
- Imperial Human 90%-93%
- Bretonnian Human 10%-20%
