Geolga

Geolga is the name of the land where humans and dragons reside. Many believe that is only a small part of a much larger world, but so far, no one has charted the areas beyond its border. Or those who have been content to keep it to themselves.   For simplicity's sake, it has been agreed upon that the settlement Peridan will serve as the "unofficial center" of the land, and all regions are based on their relative direction.

The North

The northern area of Geolga is the rockiest and comprised of many cliffs and valleys. The further north one travels, the colder it becomes. Its topmost border is the Ardelle Mountains. The rocky terrain means it has little farmland and even fewer settlements, its most notable being Diamus, the unofficial capital of the Human Territories. Some argue this is because the city of the dead Opalana is rumored to be to the north.

The East

The easter region, also known as the Human Territories. is mostly made up of rolling plains and forests. It is bordered by the Trinity Peaks, a mountain range so named for its three largest mountains that serve as a landmark. Because it has the most flat land, much of the areas are turned into farmlands.   Unknown to most, far beyond the Trinity Peaks lies the homeland of the Gryphons. Given how territorial they are and the vast distance needed to cover, it is no surprise that the area remains "undiscovered."

The South

Geolga's southern region is mostly forest. It is also home to the Metal Barons, the largest known dragon clan in Geolga. The farthest southernmost region is covered in swampland which also serves as the natural border. This is where most of Geolga's rivers lead. It also, for reasons unknown, blanketed in mist on hot days, leading many to call the area the Baron Mists. It is a region often avoided. Navigating the region by land has proven too treacherous and no boat has safely managed to navigate its waters. Despite being mostly swampland, the largest mines are run here.

The West

The western region is also known as The Dragonlands. While the area has its share of flat woodlands most of the region is actually arid and pocked with many canyons and valleys. At its edge sits the Ichor Sandsea, a wonder and a marvel in itself. The furthest settlement is Amethyne, home of the Dracaena.

Have you ever considered having a map of all of Geolga made? Or is that something you might try to work on yourself using blender?   You've made mention of a few new interesting areas here. As well as some of the reasons why they haven't been explored. Still though, with dragons by their very nature being ideally suited to exploration, it's shocking how little is known. It sounds much more likely the chronicler of this entry has the right idea with his latter thought. Whoever has the knowledge gained through exploration isn't sharing. Which could mean that information in general isn't being shared, and that this land might be limited in how much it progresses. Will those in much of Geolga find out the hard way that the gryphons or the metal barons are far more advanced than the rest of this land?

I have thought about making a map. It will be a fun project to take on but it's been added to the ever-growing pile of things I need to do. The gryphons and the metal barons are becoming more active in the series so we'll see where it goes.
