Rysel Pharmaceuticals

Rysel Pharmaceuticals is one division of Rysel Industries, and is headquartered on Rigil Kentarus. Following the outset of the Succession Wars, then-CEO Cerinna Rysel negotiated for a contract with the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces to provide treatment and medical assistance for those soldiers and support personnel affected by biological weapons and radiation poisoning. As such, they were able to grow and offer humanitarian aid to those across the borders in the Draconis Combine and Federated Suns as well. However, the travel distance meant treatment could not be widely disseminated and politics prevented expanding their reach much further.

Currently, the company is enjoying partnerships with several shipping companies which allow their products to reach farther than ever before, and they have become one of the few places offering advanced medical assistance. It is, of course, not cheap but it is readily available. Director Hechek Reisel has been trying to find ways to reduce costs enough to lower the prices of treatment for life-threatening diseases, but due to the high cost of travel by JumpShip there is only so far the costs may be reduced.

Company Locations

  • Rigil Kentarus: The corporate offices exist here, along with the main research and development facility, and a distribution center. Ever since settling their offices here, Rysel Pharmaceuticals has invested a great deal in recovery and rebuilding efforts to bring the planet back from the devastation following the fall of the Star League.

  • Glengarry: Research and Development has a branch facility here, and a distribution center was founded to attempt an economic recovery for the residents of the planet. As such, Rysel Industries has further invested greatly in attempting to bring a balance of self-sufficiency for the planet's native population.

  • Lyons: Due to the location, Lyons was used to build a production facility and distribution center for the Federation of Skye. During the Succession Wars, the facilities weathered attacks well and the company was able to maintain their presence and output. Currently it has expanded to have a second production line.

  • Syrma: Rysel Pharmaceuticals established a production and distribution facility here, offering decent wages for the local residents and attempting to shift their attitudes about technological advancement. Recently, Sorvetz Reisel and his daughter have been investing in projects to reach out to the population descended from the original settlers. This has not gone entirely well, but there is a promising future here.

  • Chara: Thanks to the planet of Pacifica largely avoiding attacks during the earlier Succession Wars, there are two facilities on the planet handling production of pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Recent raiding, however, has set back expansion and production for these holdings. The local Head of Operations, Liam Peppel, has been working closely with local government officials to find ways to mutually benefit from the recovery efforts.

  • Ryde: The tectonic instability on Ryde is one of the reasons there is not more presence of Rysel Industries on the planet. A high-hazard facility has been built there, but they mostly operate with safer pharmaceutical production lines and leave volatile or hazardous chemical productions to other facilities. The function of Ryde as one of the locations the LCAF use as a staging area means there are numerous facilities here dedicated to providing whatever treatment and recovery is needed to soldiers and support staff.

  • Alexandria: A far-flung distribution center, Alexandria is the home to one of the smaller branch offices and considered a dead-end post by many within the company. Contrary to that opinion, both Sorvetz and Hechek Reisel treat the position as vastly important and assign control of the offices to those they can absolutely trust.

  • Asta: In 2997, Sorvetz Reisel reclaimed offices which had been built in previous years and successfully negotiated with the Planetary Chairman for business to reopen for Rysel Industries. However, politics and cultural differences have left this branch operating at a minimal profit. Hechek Reisel has reached out to various individuals in the last decade seeking to find assistance making any progress improving matters any. So far, she has had no good fortune.

  • Yorii: Originally used as a production and distribution facility, the branch on the planet was sold off in 2845 by Cerinna Rysel. Following the Federated Commonwealth's capture of the planet in the Fourth Succession War, Sorvetz and Hechek have begun investigating re-establishing a branch here, and there is currently a treatment facility offering aid to any veterans or civilian casualties during the fighting to take the planet.

  • Alphecca: The lack of heavy industry and focus on agricultural development meant Rysel had no trouble starting up a production and distribution center here. Following intense fighting in the Third and Fourth Succession Wars for neighboring areas, Sorvetz established a "Recovery Center" which was explicitly neutral ground for both Lyran and Combine forces to recover as needed.

These characters, and the company, are modeled in part by characters belonging to a dear friend of mine who has creative ideas and permitted me to use these characters. I claim nothing here as my own original work, only an interpretation to fit the universe which this takes place in.
