Old City

Old City is a crumbling ward of Port Nyanzaru that has three decaying but still occupied pyramids from an ancient civilization long forgotten. Old city is primarily inhabited by the poorest citizens of Port Nyanzaru. in a odd mockery of the Merchant Princes of Port Nyanzaru, old city has its own "Beggar Princes" who trade in rumors, secrets lies and favors.
The most interesting landmark of Old City is a rectangular pit that runs down the middle of the district that once served as some sort of sport arena but is now used for a macabre event called the Executioner's Run where accused criminals are dropped in one side of the pit and must run through various carnivorous beasts to escape on the other side as free men, their sentences expunged. Most die at the teeth of hungry beasts, but some repeat offenders have become famous for their ability to survive multiple runs.
