The protagonists in RWBY are not particularly active in the overarching plot. At all. In fact, the only meaningful interaction with the plot comes at the end of the second volume, and, even then, there was little that could reasonably have scratched the villains' plans until the very last second. Between Ruby failing as a main character, Blake being a terrible 'do as I say not as I do' whiner/coward, Yang being written so poorly inconsistent and Weiss having some good material but not enough focus, I can see why Team RWBY falls flat as the main cast. The way I see it: I find RWBY and Qrow’s anger at Ozpin hypocritical. How many times in this series has Team RWBY and RNJR ever really had a plan? Answer: not much.
