Chain Fighters

Those people certainly aren't without a certain humour to them, despite their wild appearance. If you believe what the people say, at least. As for me, it's hard not to believe in all those things after I saw it once myself. What'd they do, you ask? Oh, it's a fun one. When one of those arrogant governors decided to try and debate with Chain Fighters about the benefits of slavery, and negotiate that they lay down their arms in return for cutting them some slack... what'd you think they did? They strangled him with those very chains, of course.
The Chain Fighters is the biggest slave rebellion to happen in the New World so far. First started on Cornello Island by a slave called Simon the Blind, it soon engulfed most of the Ardenian Empire's colonies. The original name came from two facts: the slaves were fighting for their freedom from the chains, and they often used their chains as tools to help achieve that. Later on, the Chain Fighters managed to get hold of proper weapons and ammunition, but slave chains remained as their favourite method of killing the oppressors.

History

During the initial period of the rebellion, the chaotic and disorganised masses of slaves got hold of a big share of Cornello Island. However, soon after a large contingent of soldiers was dispatched to the island to aid the local governor in dealing with the rebels. One of their leaders, Simon the Blind, managed to organise a raid on the local harbour and steal several ships docked there, which he then used to sail away with his followers. The ones that decided to stay on the island, however, were put back in chains shortly after the soldiers arrived there.   For years, Simon the Old and his men have terrorised the surrounding islands. The Chain Fighters raided the plantations and set the slaves free; most of the slaver ships were wary of sailing into those waters. Some say that the rebels were even aided by the Kingdom of Eire, the Ardenian Empire's main rival in the region, who would supply the former slaves with provisions, weapons and even ships. Simon the Old even managed to intercept and capture one of the Mitris transporting the gold back to the Old World.   That last deed was too much to tolerate. Shortly after, a large fleet was sent by the enraged Argenians to punish the rebels. A traitor from among their ranks, generously paid for his services, led the soldiers straight to the Chain Fighter's hideout, and in a surprise attack, most of them were killed. Allegedly, Simon the Blind was later found dead, lying among his men, although his body was never shown to the public. Despite all that, many of the Chain Fighters still managed to escape and continue their raids. They also started to hide more actively among the local population, living in small groups on different islands and killing individual officials and soldiers whenever they get the chance. Needless to say, the local governors often respond in kind.
