Ordro de Ambora
Dealing with those guys is like walking on an old wooden floor bare-foot. Imagine having a splinter stuck deep inside of your foot. It may not hurt all that much and isn't really dangerous, but it's bloody annoying. You just have to stop and take your time pulling that splinter off, but by the time you're done, you notice that there are more of them than you've noticed before. You make one careless step and suddenly there's a whole bunch of splinters stuck deep in your foot. And no matter how much effort you put into it, you can never stop those splinters from appearing on the floor. How long will it take until you decide to leave the place and move somewhere else? Well, that's what they seem to be wondering about as well.Ordro de Ambora is that kind of a secret society that most people have heard about, but not many have ever seen any proof of existing. While the organisation is an object of many rumours and tales, those hearsays range wildly in what they are saying. The situation has grown even more convoluted due to the fact that nowadays many people declare everything mystical and out of the ordinary to be the works of Ordro de Ambora. As a result, the society's true goals and methods are completely shrouded in mystery — all except for a few details, including their alleged goal of reducing the influence of the Old World in the matters of the New World. The tendency to blame this secret society for everything happening is especially strong when it comes to the important events and decisions happening in the New World. There are countless rumours about Ordro de Ambora actively intervening in politics by all sorts of means: blackmailing, bribing, murders of important figures. Based on the actions they take, influential politicians are often accused of being members of the organisation by the public. Those accusations, albeit usually groundless, are sometimes used by the authorities to persecute their political enemies, more and more so every year.
Structure
Not much is known about the hierarchy of Ordro de Ambora, although it seems to be very strict. Most of the people allegedly belonging to the secret society, when captured, claimed to be mere informants. Their job was to collect the information and pass it to the agent in charge, the only person they would know in the organisation, or so they insisted at least. The few prisoners that confessed to being agents, however, gave some conflicting statements. While some said that they were given orders by their "supervisors", others claimed that all decisions were made collectively during the meetings of local agents.
That controversy gave birth to the idea that there are actually two or even more different structures in Ordro de Ambora. Some suggest that the structures in question are, in fact, completely independent organisations operating under the same name, or just given that name by the public. It does not help the situation that most of the information was obtained from the alleged members of Ordro de Ambora by means of some hard interrogation, which often involved torture. Such methods, while effective at obtaining a confession, always weaken the credibility of the information in question.
Public Agenda
The one thing that everyone does seem to agree on would be what is the goal of Ordro de Ambora. The exact details of that intent, however, are a different thing altogether. In that regards, there are four most popular opinions to be heard about Ordro de Ambora:
1. They are just a bunch of rich people playing spies and captivated by the romance of being a part of a "secret society".
2. Similar to above, but much more mundane. With the decline of the Old World's authority in the New World, most of the positions of power would be taken by the local upper class, giving them even more wealth and influence.
3. The members of the society are selflessly fighting to save the New World from the tyranny of its overseas overlords.
4. Ordro de Ambora is, as a whole, nothing but one big conspiracy theory. The people that have admitted to being a part of it are just impersonators and romantics who convinced themselves of its existence, or people who try to use the fame behind that name for their own goals.
Ultimately, those three views each form a completely different image of Ordro de Ambora. As such, people would often debate and fight each other over it, each claiming that their idea of it is the most correct one. What is seen by one as an amusement for the rich would be met rather seriously by others; and that is true for all strata of society, from slaves to nobles.
History
The rumours of a secret society with the aim of evicting the Old World powers from the New World have first appeared around half a century ago, during the Third Wave of Colonisation. For a long time, one of the most popular theories was about it being an elaborate ploy designed by the emperor of Ardenian Empire to undermine the power of the Kingdom of Eire, who had been dominating the New World at the time. However, very few people in positions of power were taking note of the society's alleged actions back then; even more so after the Ardenian Empire entered the colonisation race, which just happened to coincide with Ordro de Ambora coming into its least notable period.
"Now that they are no longer needed, the empire must have stopped supporting its creation", was what many people had thought, and expected the society to disappear in history. Not yet. After a few years when little was heard of it, the rumours about Ordro de Ambora and its fight have started to spread around the New World like fire, going as far as to reach the ears of the emperor's court back in the Old World. For the first time in its history, people began to take the organisation seriously, ever more so nowadays.
