Holy Diver

You've been down too long in the midnight sea...

Holy Divers are the typical name a high-ranking priest of any small group or community of Starists. Having delved deep into the mystical arts of the arcane and the history of the Stars, Holy Divers are said to have, as quoted by one Holy Diver in the past:

We are those that have seen past the window, having our ego die yet restored afterward by the strength of the Stars. We know and accept that this is all a dream, a dream in death, and we embrace the nature of the world because of this.

Qualifications

It's most commonly expected that a Holy Diver has already involved themselves deeply within the community or group they're a part of, as well as have had delved deep into the history of the Stars. Alongside this, however, they're expected to have become rather knowledgable and skilled at the usage of magic, becoming an Arcanist whom has learned a wide variety of skills and spells. Oftentimes as a result of this, you'll likely have individuals who have undergone Transmorphification Syndrome as a result of working to become a Holy Diver.

As a result of the immense amounts of Mana they have to put into their bodies, a Holy Diver will be percieved as having ascended past the ordinary standards of being human. Not everyone has the same mind they do starting off on their journey of becoming a Holy Diver, often having it be warped and being struck with the belief that they've been visited by a Star in their dreams. Although evidence of this is hard to accurately determine due to the general struggles that occur when dealing with magic, it hasn't stopped people from hoping for these experiences in their path to becoming a Holy Diver.

Appointment

There are two ways. You can become a Holy Diver by meeting with the leaders of whichever sect of Starism they're in. They observe and question the aspiring Holy Diver, seeking out their knowledge and abilities, before determining on whether or not they're worthy. The other way is via selection from another Holy Diver, which is usually done at the end of their time as being a Holy Diver.

Responsibilities

Oftentimes, a Holy Diver is expected to lead and, if it ends up being necessary, often hoped to be able to protect the people that look to them. They tend to lead the Weekly Prayer To The First Star whenever it is time for one to be done. A holy Diver often leads any gatherings of Starists, telling the tales and stories of the Stars and preaching the wisdom and ideals that they held. Alongside this, a Holy Diver often takes it to themselves to lead any events or celebrations held amongst their community.
