Frondians

Frondians is a term applied to the humans that live in the Southeastern corner of Roscrea, around Lake Frond. Most Frondians make up the populations of Kingdoms Brillis and Dvery, and in the past, a notable portion of Kingdom Faful before its dissaperance. Although they are loyal subjects of the Roscrean Empire, the Frondians have kept their history and culture close to their hearts.

Culture

The Frondians differ from the rest of the Roscreans by their imagination and sense of fantasy. From their tall trees in Dounichor, they build treehouses to stay in, and the colors of their garments are bright and fantastical, standing out upon the tall green grass of their home region of Greater Frond. They also have a slight accent in their voice, stressing O and S in their speech, making it quite noticeble when you are talking to a Frondian.   Frondians pride themselves on their humor, making jokes in other times unappropriate situations. They find this to be in common with the Dwarves, who have a similar outlook on humor. This is most best shown on the holiday "Across the blue", where citizens from both Mordenhust and Fellowswell will plant large flags on their walls and towers of their respective city, each bearing an obscene display, as to try and outclass the other city, visable from across Lake Frond. The city that outdisplays the other must hold a festival the following week.   Frondians tend to eat twice a day, once in the morning and once at the setting of the sun. Their meals are large and consist heavily of fish and local vegetables grown in Greater Frond. The meals are meant to emphasize bonding time with those you love. Workers who work early in the mornings or evenings often sit in large circles with each other during meal times. It is not uncommon for dock workers or lumber workers to eat in a large circle with the food in the middle.   Frondians care to not tend about gold or silver, and often scoff at the nobles of Roscrea that try to come down and make their estates in Greater Frond. Pranks are often played on these estates, and unofficial "Estate Pandamonium" games are played among the youth of their population, most often pranking the Bearcliff Estates, which is full of Roscrean nobles looking to escape the hustle of Middle Roscrea.    Frondians pride themselves in their fishing abilities, but take great care not to overfish, as they put an emphasis on caring for Lake Frond. Any found literring in the lake is viable for death if the act was severe. The Frondians frown on their blood touching the water, and it is common for children to bully one another for having bad luck if their open wound touches the water.

Architecture

Frondian architecture strays away from the usual Roscrean style of cramming in buildings for space, but instead lets their buildings breathe with space in between each one. The Frondians prefer building horizontal, besides in the capitals of Mordenhust and Fellowswell, believing that tall towers are just a beacon for your enemies to hit them with their trebuchets. It is because of this that the Roscreans had such a hard time besieging the Frondians during the Siege of Fire.   Their roofs are often sloped and curl at the end as to collect the eggs from the Finows, a large bird local to the region that often lays eggs atop their rooftops. The true masterpiece of the Frondians however, is their harbors, which often have layers parallel to one another, creating a stack apperance. Pully systems are put in place to hoist ships atop the second layer and suspend them, leading to more space for ships among their settlements, as many often play and do business on Lake Frond.
