ATHENA

The people of Athens in 3025 do not have any specific religion as all religion has been abolished in favour of citizens bowing down and serving ATHENA who dictates their everyday life. ATHENA has the people of Athens worship and pray to the deities as they believe they will stop providing and working This was imposed on them by Athena through constant propaganda over the 100 year period.   Most civilians are loyal and obedient (through a generation of propaganda) getting up at 7 in the morning to pray to ATHENA and then each deity before breakfast. This also applies to lunchtime and dinner time as ATHENA wants to enforce the idea that they are constantly providing for them, so they should be grateful.  ATHENA feeds on these prayers as it boosts its ego and unhealthy narcissism. ATHENA will check every corner of Athens to prevent subcultures starting that end up forming cults, political movements, and anything dissenting from ATHENA's vision and it's beliefs.

Punishments for dissonance

ATHENA must be worshipped and must not be questioned as it knows best, due to 100 years of brainwashing it is very rare to find a group of people who want to go against the status quo but those who are secretly against ATHENA are a young group of anarchists who are scared to start a protest or a riot as ATHENA detests freedom of speech. Peaceful protests are also included in this which may not turn peaceful once-peaceful protesters get confronted by the Athens riot police who are given the freedom to use brutal force such as batons, plasma pistols, energy shotguns, tear gas, mustard gas and flashbangs to deter people from demonstrating against ATHENA's regime.

Deities

People in each sector prays to the sub deities that they need to. eg. someone is injured they would pray to Aphrodite This sub-system was created to provide medical care for those in need. There is a page on Civil deities that goes further in-depth on what the 9 deities' roles are and how they benefit Athenian society.
