The country is divided into several regions based on its natural features:   East: The Tyrian Bay forms the eastern boundary, where the capital city of Tyr stands tall. The bay is a vital hub for trade and serves as the nation’s primary port.   Northeast: A mountain range in the northeast is rich in pure white marble, which is highly sought after for construction and sculpture. This resource is a major contributor to Tyria’s economic strength and luxury exports.   South: The Southern Mountain Range is known for its abundance of minerals and precious gems, such as rubies, sapphires, emeralds, diamonds, and quartz. This region supports much of Tyria’s mining and quarrying activities.   West: Mount Kaldrun, the largest and highest mountain in Tyria, dominates the western border. While its peaks are unexplored, the base of the mountain is actively mined for its rich gold deposits.   North: The Khazrat Desert is a vast expanse of shifting dunes and harsh, barren landscapes. The desert is home to the walled city of Kheste, built around a large oasis. Kheste features a great pyramid said to have been constructed by the founder of Tyria to commemorate a lost loved one.   Midlands: The Midlands are parcelled with numerous towns, farmland, and mulberry tree groves. This fertile region supports the country’s agricultural backbone, growing a variety of crops and producing the raw materials needed for Tyrian silk and mulberry wine.           Capital City: Tyr The capital city, Tyr, is the political, economic, and cultural heart of the nation. Nestled between the northern and southern mountains, with the Saint Mateia River flowing through its center, Tyr stands as a testament to the wealth and grandeur of the country.   Key Features:   King’s Keep: The King’s Keep is the most prominent structure in the city, situated on a mountainside and serving as both a royal residence and a military fortress. Accessible only via a bridge connected to another tower, it symbolizes the King’s unassailable authority. Below the royal quarters, an entire floor is reserved for the King’s single bodyguard—a legendary hero who once saved the world, though few know her true identity and history. Her room is open and without walls, supported by columns and divided by silk curtains that provide privacy. The room is connected by an inner row of pillars and a staircase leading up to the royal quarters and down to the lower levels.   Noble Keeps: Surrounding the King’s Keep are dozens of white marble towers owned by noble families. These keeps serve as residences and power centers for noble families, who oversee trade, military recruitment, and labor in their respective districts.   Common Districts: Modest brick and stone buildings house the majority of Tyr’s population. The area is vibrant with markets, artisans, and craftsmen who produce luxury goods and high-quality products sought after across the region.   The Shoreline and Tyrian Bay: The shoreline serves as the economic hub of Tyr, featuring fisheries, bustling fish markets, and extensive shell farms. Tyrian slugs, native to the region, are harvested for their secretions, which are used to produce the exclusive Tyrian Red dye—the only purple dye in existence, making it a luxury item coveted by the elite.   Architectural Style: All roofs of towers throughout the city of Tyr have spiky, thorny, or speary designs, giving the city an imposing and defensive appearance. Originally designed to deter aerial assaults by the Ravennean Empire’s giant bird riders, these features now serve as a reminder of past threats and conflicts.           Defenses and Fortifications Tyrian Bay is heavily fortified, with robust defenses against both naval and aerial assaults:   Naval Defense: Defensive towers armed with ballistas are positioned around the bay. These towers are equipped with rooms designed to pour boiling oil onto enemy vessels. The perimeter of the bay is further secured by towers connected by chains that can be raised from beneath the water, effectively blocking the passage of ships.   Aerial Defense: To counter aerial threats, the roofs of all defensive towers are covered with golden, spiky tips. This design was originally intended to deter the Ravennean Empire’s giant bird riders, a known threat in the past. While the Ravennean bird riders no longer exist, the defenses remain as a reminder of past conflicts.           Economy Tyria’s economy is the envy of the world, driven by its wealth of natural resources, exclusive products, and exceptional craftsmanship:   Tyrian Red Dye: The most prestigious and exclusive export of Tyria, Tyrian Red dye is the only purple dye in existence. Extracted from the native Tyrian slugs, it is a luxury item reserved for royalty and the wealthiest individuals worldwide, making it an invaluable source of wealth.   Mining and Quarrying: The northeastern mountains produce pure white marble, while the eastern mountains yield metals and minerals. The base of Mount Kaldrun is also mined for its rich gold deposits, contributing to Tyria’s wealth.   Artisan Crafts and Luxury Goods: Tyria is known for its exceptional craftsmanship, producing silk, fine jewelry, gems, and other luxury goods of unmatched quality. The nation promotes the creation of high-quality artisanal products, further solidifying its reputation as a land of artisans and opulence.   Agriculture: Fertile lands along the Saint Mateia River produce crops such as carrots, sweet potatoes, peppers, spinach, onions, beans, tomatoes, eggplants, leeks, and lettuce. Mulberry trees, used for silk production, are a cornerstone of the nation’s agriculture, alongside the production of mulberry wine.   Military Production: Tyria’s forges produce weapons, armor, and other military equipment of the highest quality, used to equip its own armies and traded to other nations.           Justice System The justice system in Tyria is strict and highly structured, designed to maintain order and control throughout the nation. The enforcement of laws and the dispensation of justice are overseen by a combination of military officials and appointed magistrates, with a clear hierarchy of authority.   Laws and Punishments: Tyria's laws are rigid and emphasize loyalty, productivity, and social order. Punishments for crimes can range from fines and public service for minor infractions to hard labor, forced conscription, enslavement, or even death for more severe offenses. Theft, treason, and rebellion are among the most severely punished crimes, with death being reserved for capital offenses.   The Judicial Court: The highest court in Tyria, known as the Judicial Court, is composed of high-ranking officials and noble representatives. They handle matters of national importance, such as high treason, crimes of the noble class, and disputes between noble families.   Magistrates and Judges: Each city and town has magistrates and judges who oversee local disputes, criminal cases, and civil matters. Magistrates are appointed by the King or local nobles and have the authority to interpret and enforce the law.   Military Enforcement: The Ivory Legions, alongside local garrisons, enforce the law and maintain order. Soldiers can act as law enforcers, arresting criminals and escorting them to trial. In rural areas and smaller towns, military presence is often the primary form of law enforcement.   Slave Justice: Slaves in Tyria are owned by the state, not private individuals. Their crimes include stealing, rebellion, battery, failure to work, and sedition. Punishments for slaves typically include isolation, transfer to harsher labor camps, lashing, or, in severe cases, execution. Slaves are initially distributed into labor camps based on their apparent capabilities: war slaves are sent to the mines, delicate slaves to the farms, and strong non-fighters to construction labor. Slaves are marked with scars indicating their slave identity (#) and their slave type (war slaves, criminals, or overseas trade slaves). Each offense a slave commits is marked on their body in a visible area. Accumulating too many offenses results in execution.   Dueling and Trials by Combat: Among the noble class, duels or trials by combat may be sanctioned as a way to resolve disputes. These events are heavily regulated, with strict rules and oversight to prevent unnecessary loss of life or public disorder.   Rehabilitation and Redemption: Tyria also offers a system of rehabilitation for minor offenses, where individuals can work off their debt to society through public service or military support roles. However, this is rare and usually reserved for those who show genuine remorse or have valuable skills.           Social Hierarchy The King: The supreme ruler of Tyria, with absolute authority over all matters of state. The current ruler is King Vespasian Mateius, descended from a human-dwarf hybrid lineage. His ancestor, who founded Tyria, was said to be an avatar of the goddess Mateia, symbolizing abundance and fortune.   Noble Families: Noble families are composed of 40% humans, 50% dwarves, and 10% other races. They maintain control over resources, trade, and military conscription. These families often intermarry to strengthen alliances and solidify their power.   Freemen and Citizens: The backbone of Tyrian society, responsible for trade, craftsmanship, and farming. While they are not as influential as the noble families, they enjoy certain rights and privileges.   Slaves: The lowest class, deprived of all rights. Slaves work in labor-intensive industries and serve alongside the military in construction projects.           Culture and Society Tyrian society values strength, loyalty, and productivity. However, it also celebrates luxury, opulence, and artistic excellence, especially among the elite.   Art and Architecture: Tyrian architecture, with its marble towers and intricate mosaics, is a testament to the nation’s wealth and artistry. The capital, Tyr, is adorned with grand sculptures and elaborate designs, reflecting the mastery of Tyrian artisans.   Fashion and Dyes: Clothing is vibrant and richly adorned, with the Tyrian Red dye being a symbol of wealth and status.   Festivals and Rituals: Seasonal festivals celebrate the nation’s prosperity, military victories, and the birth of new noble heirs. These events feature elaborate parades, feasts, and displays of the nation’s wealth.           Foreign Relations Tyria’s wealth and control over valuable resources make it a dominant player in regional politics. While its involvement in the international slave trade has drawn criticism from more progressive nations, many overlook this due to Tyria’s strategic importance and economic influence.
