Port of Miracles Freehold

County Seat for the County of Forbidden Secrets

Can I find it? Fae can find the Port of Miracles with Kenning 1 or more   Mortal Seeming: Port of Miracles lays on Dumaine St, overlapping the mortal seemings of Madame John's Legacy and the VooDoo Authentica shop.   Chimerical seeming: Towering over both storefronts is a magnificent piece of architecture that reflects all that was lost in the great fire. Steeped in shadows and redolent of incense and spiritual oils Port of Miracles is a place of mystery and enchantment   Chimerical interior: Past the shop there is a wide entryway that leads into a common area of brick and stone, with chairs and couches and old fashioned chandeliers. The freehold is filled with artifacts and voodoo ritual materials. There is a stand with tobacco and rum at the doorway, and a shrine to the Baron Samedi in one corner. The balefire sits in an old fashioned fireplace on the back wall, with rooms behind it for those who need recuperation. There is a spiral staircase leading up to the second floor and the baroness' office and chambers.   Floors: The Port of Miracles has three floors and a chimerical underground dock. The building does not have a basement as the land is below sea level and any mundane structure would flood.
  • Docks: Leading to the waterway trod
  • Ground floor: Main room, kitchen, utility areas
  • First floor: (you might call it the second floor) Offices, Library, M-E personal chambers
  • Second floor: (attic) Papa Bernard's chambers, infirmary rooms and bedrooms
Chimerical Exterior: In back of the Port of Miracles is an enchanted garden, steeped in faerie light and mystery. There is a fountain at the middle and the area is often used for reflection, refreshment or just taking a moment away from the world.   How to enter: Most fae enter from the back door of Voodoo Authentica. It is also possible to enter from the back of Madame John's Legacy.  Locals generally use the Legacy entrance as it is more difficult to find, and better hidden.   Can unenchanted people enter? An unenchanted person can tour the Madame John's Legacy museum, enter and shop from the Voodoo Authentica shop or meet fae in the Voodoo Authentica back room. They cannot enter the freehold proper
Is there a trod? Yes. Traveling chimerically down the stairs to the back of Port of Miracles brings a fae to the docks of a wide river. At the edge of the dock is a shrine with a veve carved into the headpiece. On the table there is an unlit yellow candles and a bowl for offerings. Any fae who wishes to use the trod must light the candle and make an offering to Papa Legba. Should the offering appeal to the lwa, the gates will be opened and a boat to cross the river will appear.
