Humans

Humans are the dominant species on the planet, though they are far from the only sentient species to call it home. They are, generally, similar to the Earth-planet humans one is presumably familiar with, though they have their subtle differences as well. They can be found on every continent and in every country on the planet, and though regional ethnic differences exist, all humans on the planet are the same species.

Biological Characteristics

The humans of this planet are remarkably similar to the familiar Homo sapiens sapiens, but the differences could be most easily described by saying they are a little bit More in every category. For every trait from lifespan to height, from skin color to build, Homo sapiens septemaria fall into a slightly larger range of possibilities than humans from Earth.

Perception & Sensory/Extrasensory Capabilities

With the More or perhaps with the Magic that fills most of the planet, also comes enhanced perception, sensory, and extrasensory capabilities. Even humans with no magical aptitude to speak of might have enhanced or changed eyesight, hearing, taste, smell, touch, or even 'other' or sixth senses. These traits are often culture- or habitat-specific, and humans rarely have more than one or two enhanced senses. Furthermore, the more enhanced a sense is, the more likely a different sense will be diminished, and humans with more than two enhanced senses will almost certainly have diminished capacity in their un-enhanced senses.

Genetics and Reproduction

Humans are dimorphic, and naturally require a biologically male and biologically female partner for reproduction. Some magic systems on this planet have mechanisms for the creation of a child from two parents of the same biological sex or from the shared genetics of more than two parents, but no system has eliminated the need for a host womb.

Humans are also able to reproduce with all of the other species on the planet, with offspring characteristics depending on the different genetic crosses and varying greatly. For more information about half-humans, see the information on the respective other parent species.

Growth Rate and Maturity

Because the humans of this planet tend to live longer (the average lifespan is 150 years), they also mature slightly slower. In most cultures one is considered a child until they are 13, and a teen until they are 20. They are then considered young adults until 55, and seniors after 115. Social "adulthood" may be awarded between 20 and 55, depending on the society and circumstances.

Mannerisms & Social Structure

Like humans from Earth, mannerisms and social structure for humans on this planet are remarkable because they are so varied. Humans are the quintessential jack-of-all-trades, and can be found in nearly every climate, profession, and social strata. However, variation is lesser among ethnic groups than on the planet as a whole.
