Personal history

Roarke is the oldest son and heir of Lord Calder Seawolf. His mother, Lady Cainys Shieldhart, died when he was too small to remember her. His father remarried when he was 8. He had fallen in love with Lady Fhaora Darkwood, but could not marry her because she was not Eschean (and was a magic-user of non-Empire heritage) and he was afraid of falling out of favor with the Emphir. Instead, he wed Fhaora's best friend and lover Lady Darhana Arroway and brought both women into his household.
When Roarke was 17, both Darhana and Fhaora perished under tragic circumstances. Calder was devastated by the loss of his lover and his friend. He abandoned all duties as a father to his and Fhaora's son Luthien Seawolf, leaving Roarke to pick up the pieces. Roarke essentially became Luthien's father from that point forward, and also took a much bigger role in raising Calder and Darhana's son Keenan Seawolf, who was Calder's second heir, and their daughter Daire Seawolf.
In addition to raising the children of the household, Roarke was training to take over as Lord Seawolf and run the family businesses.

Roarke is very close to and insanely protective of his half-siblings: Luthien Seawolf, Keenan Seawolf, Daire Seawolf, Sorcha Seawolf, and Tierney Seawolf, whom he has practically raised. He was very close to his father's second wife and lover, Darhana Arroway and Fhaora Darkwood, who together raised him from when he was 8 until he was about 17. He has a sibling-type relationship as well with his father's third wife, Lady Thana Swiftwind. He has a strained relationship with his father, who has always been good to Roarke but is neglectful at best and abusive at worst of his siblings.
