The Mage is a member of the Wearer of Red and an aspiring monk of the Psions of Tiragon which is where he is when we first encounter him. He is beginning to learn of the ways of monastary. He is sent on behalf of the monastary to investigate Mt Surzell in Ravenhiem as Master Silverfleece believes there is an awakened entitey, which is to say a mental prescence similar to the Great Old One the order channels, somewhere within.
