The Town of Pinehearth (PINE-harth)

Pinehearth is the capitol of the The Dragonate of Northeim. It is located in the shadow of Mount Wyrmsrest, a massive mountain that is home to the country's leadership - an ancient gold dragon named Illuzan the Gilded. She has overseen the country since its inception, although she did not seize control until intervention was required. Due to her immense wisdom and farsight, Northeim has avoided most political conflict during its history.
Pinehearth is a sprawling viking-style city filled with tavern longhouses, smithies, and more. It is also home to two curiosities: an immense graveyard and an enclave of Dragonborn society.

History

In the year 28 NE, the gold dragon Illuzan The Gilded took control of the city, and later the country. She - although she was a he at the time - was disgusted by the leadership of Pinehearth. King Brennon was a bigoted man who believed that humans were superior to all other races, and attempted to enforce this ideal by having all other races murdered. Illuzan tricked her way - in human form - into the king's audience by leading some of her loyal Dragonborn behind her as "prisoners." Once inside, she dropped her human form and gobbled Brennon up in a single bite. The rest of the fray was over within minutes, due to the strength of the dragon and her mutant children (See Dragonborn Births ). She easily assumed control of the city after that, and the rest of the country soon willingly fell in line, due to their shared hatred of their former leader. Those who opposed the dragon did not do so for long.

Points of interest

Pinehearth Cemetery Taking up a full quarter of the city, the Pinehearth Cemetery is the largest single graveyard in the known world. The dead in the cemetery represent all the innocents who lost their lives due to the evil machinations of an unsettled man. However, the operation of the landmark continues, and thus all the remains of the actual victims rest comfortably in the catacombs below.
Dragonborn Enclave There are few of these within Wyrmwuld, but Pinehearth is the natural place for one to be. As detailed in the Dragonborn Births article, Dragonborn are hatched from the eggs of true dragons. However, they lack the strength to be raised alongside their dragon siblings, and are often brought to human villages to be raised. Humans, however, usually lack the strength to raise a winged, tailed toddler with dangerous breath. Thus, the Enclaves were formed - they are communes where adult Dragonborn adopt new hatchlings and care for them as if they were their own. This Enclave travels as far as Mol Boldir to collect younglings and raise them.
However, due to the nature of Pinehearth's ruler, it is not uncommon to see human parents raising a Dragonborn alongside their pink squishy human children.
