Belorin Flintbloom

Credit to Patrick Beaulieu Level 12 Lightfoot Halfling Bard   Lawful Good Hermit   Str: 8 Dex: 17 Con: 10 Int: 10 Wis: 11 Cha: 15   Belorin Flintbloom has lived just outside of Verstalis, on his family's farm, all of his life. When his parents had succumb to illness when he was nine, it was he and his two older brothers who tended to the farm, where they grew various specialty plants used in medicine throughout Estalia. A quiet and reserved individual, Belorin spent almost all of his time on the farm, tending to his precious plants, playing music for no one in particular (it helps the plants grow or so he says), and researching about herblore and medicine.   While Belorin loved farming, the same could not be said for his older brothers, who had more of a passion for causing trouble. Living on a farm with little outlet for this mischievousness, Belorin was often the target of their ire out of convenience. Eventually, as teenagers Belorin's brothers decided that they were leaving the farm to make their names in Verstalis. Unfortunately for Belorin they decided to leave their marks before they left.   Belorin, now fifteen, awoke to screams of terror and clattering downstairs. Not being known for his bravery he hid under his bed until the noises stopped, and then a little longer for good measure. Finally, his brothers entered his room calling his name. Only when Belorin emerged from his hiding place they took no notice, and instead recoiled from his voice as he said "here, I'm here". His brothers shakily explained that they had played an innocent prank on a fey priest while out selling during the day, and that as punishment their farm was visited by a fey spirit. They said that as punishment for their ill-doings their dearest brother would be made invisible, except when wearing a special hat conjured from the spirit realm, and that they were so frightened because they could not see Belorin as they stood. Belorin became panicked and demanded that they give him the hat so that he could be seen again, upon which they produced a gigantic brown fur hat with ear patches and rams horns. As Belorin donned the hat he was relieved to see his brothers look at him and recognize that he was there. And from then on all who knew Belorin knew the Belorin that wore the hat with ram's horns which was much too big for his halfling head, who sang to his plants at night.   Shortly after this Belorin's brothers left the farm, which was ok for Belorin who at this point had mastered many spells which were surprisingly useful for just getting things done around the house. Belorin lived in peace from then on with his plants and his farm, and his hat. Until one day Belorin awoke and found that his farm had been ransacked. He had heard of the mysterious thefts and disappearances of course, but what would they want with his farm, and what had they taken? He had a cup of tea and pondered this until eventually deciding to go assess the damage which had been caused to his farm, only when he returned to his bedroom he realized with shock and horror, his hat was missing. Belorin was crestfallen, he searched the entire farm three times over and still the hat was not found. How could he go on with his life being invisible? Not being paid attention to or cared about or even acknowledged? No. He couldn't face the world as an invisible man. But what could he do? He was just Belorin. For months he would tend to the fields during the day and stay up until the wee hours of the morning trying to figure out how to reverse the curses of fey spirits. He started pouring ash over himself before going into Verstalis just so his form would be visible and his cart would not look unattended. However eventually he decided that this was too embarrassing to keep doing. Finally, after months of moping, Belorin decided that he must track down the perpetrators and get his special hat back. So he backed up everything he had around that he thought may be useful on an adventure and headed to Verstalis as an invisible man for the last time. For he would not return to the safety of his farm without his hat again.
