Daevata
"So many always asked what happened to the Firstborn, we've known that they evolved into other species, but what about those that lingered? These mighty, ancient beings that were so desperate to resist extinction near the end? The answer is simple. They did not die."Daevata are a species of what many call "Fiends" or "Demons". They are the result of Firstborn making a pact with the Daemon to become Tainted, and moving to live within the Labyrinth itself. Continuing their research, expansion, and rapid evolution throughout the darkness of the depths. This combined with long-term evolution, created hundreds of different clans within the Labyrinth. These Daevata are feared for holding the mystical powers of their Firstborn descendants, combined with the power of The Daemon itself. Among these species, there are tiers of power based on a system of blood purity, all related directly to the Taint. There is a limited structure within the Daevata's species, primarily in the form of the four royal houses. Each holding what is known simply as "Pure Blood". These are descendants of (and in some cases the individuals) whom directly received the blood of the Daemon itself during the First Age. As such, these clans lack many of the common drawbacks of the taint, and when combined with their Firstborn heritage make them terrifying creatures, even amongst their kin. Though they are not truly "Awakened Tainted" they hold blood far purer than normal Daevata. Underneath these four royal houses, there are then dozens of more prominent clans of Daevata that can generally trace their blood back to one of the four houses with various degrees of variation and interbreeding with humans and other clans. After this, there are then hundreds of minor Daevata family's that spread across the infinite abyss of the Labyrinth. Some come forth to decide on important matters, others ignore the existence of their peers and the surface. The Four Royal Daevata Houses
- Mephistum: The children of magic and the abyss. Often noted by their signature red skin and horns, the family live within the bowels of the Labyrinth's most heated, magma-channels within castles of obsidian and stone. They have a penchant for contracts, often offering individuals power, wealth and knowledge in return for owning the souls of the individuals after they die. In turn they are the inventors, as well as largest producers and users of Soul Coin's.
- Apophis: The children of disease and poison. Often noted as the only family whom specialize not in direct magic and power, but instead knowledge. Holding intricate study into alchemy and dark arts, they create some of the most powerful diseases, mutations, poisons, and narcotics in the world. It is even said that they are the descendants of the original Firstborn whom created Vampirism.
- Hum'Bakya: The children of war and flame. Known for their original sire whom made the pact with the Daemon still being alive, they are the most powerful of the four houses without question in quality. However, they are the smallest of the houses in return. Their members are bloodthirsty, powerful, and are known to somehow be capable of defying all of nature's laws, by breeding with dragons for more powerful, freakish heirs. Due to this, they are known to have "Speech of fire, and breath of death", reigning within the mountains to the far west within Celestia's depths, too strong even for the Celestial to drive out.
- Wroth (Partial): Although the family has technically claimed the original territory of the Tir-Falora, due to their complete lack of political backing from the other four houses, lack of pure blood, and lack of proper power, the family are not currently considered true Royals. The family is instead considered "High-Nobility" to most, though some are trying to vie for the position as well due to their weakness.
- Tir-Falora (Failing): The children of blood and the hunt. Known for their affinity for the darkness and cold, they reside to the far north of the world within the darkness of the ice-capped mountains. Known for their ability to utilize Blood Arts, a rarity for non-Giant-kin, as well as their ability to survive off nothing but the blood of other creatures. Deriving nutrition and life-force, raw energy from blood. This has also made them feared hunters, stalkers, and assassin's in the Daevata world. After the fall of the family due to subterfuge and betrayal, they have gone nearly extinct.
