Yelmar

Backstory

Yelmar originates from a secluded tribe deep within the Cenai Mountains, living in harmony with nature. Raised by both parents and caring for her younger twin siblings, Yelmar became a skilled hunter and protector of her village at the age of 15. Under the guidance of her mentor, she learned to fend off the diverse creatures and monsters that roamed their remote mountain territory.
After a life-changing tragic event, she pledged her loyalty to the god Ta'xet, swearing to avenge and kill whoever was responsible for what befell her. What that exactly was is only known to her.
Yelmar then found herself within the neighbouring tribe of giants who helped her and provided her with further training as a warrior. Two years later, she embarked on a quest for vengeance, convinced that it was the work of a cruel cult due to the intentional and strategic nature of what happened.
Over six years of relentless travel through the mountains and encounters with various tribes, including dwarves, Yelmar followed rumours and hints that led her to Aspana and eventually to the capital Harbor. She believed that someone in the capital held information about the cult responsible for the tragedy and those who had ill intentions towards shifters like herself. She joined the Army of Aspana and quickly rose through the ranks due to her unique fighting experience, becoming commander Gareths second in command only a few months after joining.
Yelmar's tribe worshiped multiple gods, with a special reverence for Mother Nature. Ta'xet, the god of violent death, held a significant place in their beliefs, collecting the souls of those who met a violent end. His counterpart, Tia, granted peaceful deaths to those deserving. The tribe's spiritual leaders communicated with the gods through nature, star readings, and visions, some of which were induced by a sacred herb known as necrotic nightshade, a conduit to cosmic energy and hallucinatory experiences.
