White Eye
White eye, also called defective blue, is a genetic anomaly that causes a very light blue or grey eye that is almost white in appearance. The condition is commonly seen in Tersi, but also affects CAs and AAs. Dismantlers cannot develop white eye.
A white eyed robot has a 25%* chance of passing on the condition to their child (if the other parent is normal eyed). This jumps up to 75%* if both parents are affected with white eye.
SYMPTOMS & EFFECTS
Robots born with a white eye have a significantly higher rate of blindness and other vision problems presented at birth (even higher than that of bi-coloured robots). However there are some white eyed robots that have perfect vision, but this is fairly rare.
Blindness and vision issues tend to get progressively worse as the affected robot ages, and by the time they hit their senior years they're usually mostly or completely blind.
CAUSE
White eye can be random even if both parents have fully functional eyes. However, it's been speculated* that if both parents have blue eyes, there is a higher chance their offspring will develop white eye/defective blue. Genetically their 'code' is considered to be blue, and they may pass on a blue eye to their children, or mix depending on other parent's colour (eg. White/defective blue + red may give: purple, red, blue, white)TREATMENT & PROGNOSIS
The treatment for blindness and other vison problems is very lacking. Some corrective surgery can delay the progressive vision loss, but there is currently no cure.
SOCIETY & CULTURE
White eyed robots are sometimes viewed negatively and as being 'sickly'.
