The Fringes

Location of space, lightly colonized. It's a border cluster with a few worlds under Hegemony space (forming the Annular Necrocracy) and Serenity's Reach on the other side of the Red Corridor. Known to have significant pirate activity, and home to only a couple of resource rich systems.

Systems of Note

Catari (S-1 A0 E-1 R1)

Former ruling seat of Annular Necrocracy (now Nula), Catari recently (approximately 10 years ago) was the target of a well coordinated assault. Though the system has a great deal of mineable wealth, it's wealth pales in comparison to the relatively recent explosive wealth of the Nula system.

Frye (S-2 A-4 E-4 R-2)

A Lo-Cal system whose only redeeming quality is the fact that it links further "downline" in the cluster. Until recently, it was thought that the next two systemsfurther down were also low caliber systems, but it turns out that Verdant Eye may be of some use after all. It's rumored that this system takes advantage of its two asteroid rings and utilizes them as a penal colony.

Nula (S2 A2 E1 R3)

Richest system in the cluster, Nula is the seat of the Annular Necrocracy, a government which is known throughout the Hegemony because it's rulers are a cadre of liches. They trade heavily in necromantic craft and are rumored to provide crack troops for the Hegemony.

Serenity (S-1 A0 E0 R1)

Torin's Gate (S-2 A-4 E-3 R-2)

A Lo-Cal system, the Sandmen maintain a small but powerful armed base there because of it's strategic importance: it touches 3 other worlds and has a link to the Out Yonder cluster.

Verdant Eye (S0 A0 E-1 R-2)

A world under serious dispute, the system was originally part of the Red Corridor (along with Frye and Miriad) because it was part of a "corridor of low caliber systems with nothing but slip knots to keep things moving along." It has recently been found that in the shadow of the system's gas giant, a colony of elves have been Habiforming one of the moons - Verdant Eye - for the past century. Nearing the completion of their second phase, the habiformed space will easily sustain over a hundred thousand lives which, along with the strategic implications for accessing Serenity's Reach, makes the world of some import to the Royal Hegemony.
