Eivan van Ryttenhavs
Eivan van Ryttenhavs came from one of the most prominent noble houses of the Realm. Being the lords of the reknowned Ryttenhavs they were heavily involved in breeding the execellent warhorses that rival those of the Nerran clan from the Griffin Mountains.
As many others from his family Eivan was raised to be a chevalier of the Realm. Spending already his childhood riding those estemed horses he trained to be a knight. He was even sent to the Acadamy of War in Eversted to finish his education beyond simple combat skills. There he passed with flyling colors becoming one of the most successful students of all time.
Later he served as officer for the army of the Realm in different places. Many council members hoped for a war that would be worthy of him as they didn't want to see such a talent get wasted by circumstances of peace. He himself was also eager for a chance to test himself, but at the same time sensible enough to appreciate the relative calmness the Realm had. Eivan was known to be pragmatic and calculating. He was not interested in morals when it comes to war, but in results. For him a clean conscience meant that he had done everything he could to ensure that the Realm was saver after the conflict. Personal views had to take the backseat and were each individual's own personal problem, but they must not prevent doing what is necessary.
When not leading an army, Eivan showed the education and composure expected from a chevalier. Well mannered and respectful he usually left a good impression on those talking to him. Surprising to most he didn't learn the fashionable Elvish and instead he learned Morskani, while studying their military history. In 436 YoU he was promoted to commander of the Army of the West to be sent out to deal with the Hiyndurill Forest elves who were instigating chaos along the border. The conflict would turn out to be bloody and long lasting as the elves evaded large scale engagements and instead conducted a guerilla war supported by spies. Most typical officers of the Realm would have lost patience and attempted to recklessly force the elves into battle, but Eivan kept a cool head and instead created fortified outposts and cleared out the villages along the frontline of all elves and half-elves by either offering them to relocate deeper into the Realm or hanging them for treason. His brutal approach was a reaction to murders and sabotage elven allies used to terrorize the Realm's soldiers in the region. By 442 YoU the conflict had slowed down as minotaurs and gnolls spread in the region increasing the level of violence even further. Until this point Eivan as leader of the Realm's army and Olyvjaer Dalaraen the elven warlord had put their unique marks on the warfare. Both sides seemed to take a step back as the beastmen turned the strategic face off into a slaughter, with both sides not being able to be certain the new party was a neutral antagonist and not supporting the foe. Yet Eivan's worries started to lay further inwards the Realm of the Middle. More and more internal conflicts distracted the nobility reducing the available supplies for the war. His initial hope of things being settled among the council members was shattered by the time the council met that year for its anual gathering. This time all the most important lords and ladies attended and Lothar van Brugge extended an invitation to Eivan to also be there. With rumors of sedition in the east spreading Eivan attended the festivities and meetings with a wary eye on his fellow nobles to spot those who might actually attempt to tear the Realm appart from within.
