The Faceless

The Faceless
Origin: Formed from the ashes of many Changeling houses (See Changelings) burned during The Summer Of Daggers, The Faceless were mere rumor until the end of summer. Then, in one fell swoop, they took over both major houses and brought nearly every single minor one under their banner. Within a day they had ended The Changeling Shadow Wars and brought unity to the warring groups.
Mission: No one knows the true goals of The Faceless, save for the unity of the changeling species, and their tribesman allies (see Shifters). The Faceless do not divulge information to outsiders, or seemingly anyone. Save for unity, they also seem to be intent on spreading the faith of The Laughing God to other changelings.
That is inside changeling society however, outside of it they seem to be a mostly destabilizing force. One part criminal empire, one part religious terrorists, and one part spy network, The Faceless work to undermine their enemies in secret. Controlling small-time gangs, to puppeting governments, The Faceless’ reach cannot be understated or known.
Group Organization: There is no one true organizational structure within The Faceless. One sect may operate as an undercover cell of specialized operatives, another as a military organization with ranks and titles. The only true higher-up that can be pointed to is The Speaker .
Leader(s): The Speaker is the only known leader of The Faceless. Serving as an advisor to the Council of The Eighty One Tribes (see Shifters), The Speaker is The Faithless’ only official representative. Though officially only an advisor, they hold immense weight in the council and has a quasi-royal status. Wearing long flowing robes of white, gold, and silver, on first glance they appear to be a priest of Aedwyn. Then one gazes upon The Speaker’s face which is just a white sheet pulled tight over his features and that impulse is removed. Adorned with a tall brimless black and gold, and wielding a quarterstaff with the head of a mace on one head, The Speaker does not seem overly intimidating unless they feel like it. Their appearance is androgynous, their voice doubly so, with no one able to guess what gender they may be.
Recent History: Within the last few years, The Faceless has become something of a boogeyman amongst the nations that border the eastern provinces. Likely the work of High Elven propagandists, this increased scrutiny has forced Faceless operations deeper underground. Whether this is all some ploy by The Faceless themselves is unknown. Regardless of who started it, this witch hunt has led to several riots and a string of people presumed to be changeling operatives to end up dead.
Opinion/Enemies: A myth to most, a rumor to the rest, only the High Elves truly know of The Faceless’ existence. Even then, most other races assume that it is all an elaborate cover-up made up by the high elves in order to excuse their fall from grace.
