Gravic Swamp
Tribes of creatures who are known to inhabit the marshes include kobolds, lizardfolk, bullywugs, and giant poisonous snakes. Occasionally a mysterious fog blankets the land and these creatures get brave enough to venture out of the swamp. The town of Phandalin (Mistwood on the map) will hire mercenaries to deal with them.
Navigating the Swamp:
- DC 15 Survival check to successfully navigate the swamp with no map.
- Following the trees growing in water is difficult terrain.
Random Encounters:
- Roll a d20 once per hour of travel or once per 20 mins of rest. A random encounter occurs on 17-20.
- Random encounters can include bog hazards, stirges, giant poisonous snakes, med mephits, and giant frogs.
Lizard Hollow:
- Tree of Insight.
- Tribe of Lizardfolk led by a shaman who reveres the tree.
Northern Bogs:
- Tribe Kobolds & Winged Kobolds who craft bridges across the swamp.
Southern Marshes:
- Tribe of Bullywugs who collects lost treasure from unfortunate adventurers.
Crone Island
- A Green Hag brewed a potion in her cauldron that continuously boils and exhumes a toxic steam above it. If a Will-o'-Wisp spends 1 turn in the steam it turns into Foglet.
