Cragbend

The small town is named for a large craggy rock that caused a bend in the river nearby. It is largely a farming town that also has some small accommodations for traveling merchants. There is one large tavern in the town called The Bent Beam, it is run by a family of hill dwarves, The Leadshoulders, The loud and boisterous bartender and owner of the tavern is a large rotund dwarf man named Burdol, his wife an equally round and rotund dwarven woman named Jossetain. The two are somewhere in their mid 100s, and have two children, one in their mid 30s, and the other in their late 20s. Dungrid and Nefas.   The town has a sheriff, and a small militia. They are the subjects of a Valdian Noble, a minor one with a small estate in this section of Valdia. The Tugan family, who spend most of their time in Gilead, and leave their steward to deal with the taxes and anything else that comes up.   Their estate is off the main road even further to the west on the top of a small hill. The steward is a very old human man named Ulrik Blom. He lives there with his wife Miriam who is also the cook when the family are at their estate.   The sheriff is a former mercenary who settled down in the town. The large and older woman named Helen. She is married to one of the farmers, a short and somewhat portly man named Ronny.   Helen has 5 others that act as towns guards. Two of which were mercenaries with Helen when she guarded merchant caravans. The other three are eager younger locals that want to be trained by Helen.   There are a total of 20 people that can be called together to form the militia if needed but they are barely trained at all and really only serve as a deterrent for less serious problems like small bands of bandits.   there is one small shrine in the town to Pelor, which is the only site of worship in the town, it is maintained by the people who go there to pray or leave offerings.
