Osao Space Legion
Osao
- 1 Moon- 14.5 AU from Afuph
Osao is easily the most vibrant planet in the Kurhira System. Inhabited by slimes, the settlements of Osao consist of large bubbles made of the renewable material that make up slime bodies. Slimes are a very intelligent species and frequently venture into space. They have established themselves as familiar faces around the Milky Way, even if many people look down on them for their goopy anatomies.
Despite these unusual settlements and slimes, the environments are the most interesting part of this planet. There are 7 major biomes on the planet, each a different colour. These major biomes have sub-biomes that can be found worldwide. It is complicated, but makes for incredibly interesting locations and landscapes.
Members
Head Legional
Osao's five Head Legionals are on rotation every 5 years, picked randomly each time a switch is due. The current Head Legional holds the most power in the Space Legion, as the only one able to authorise laws. They are not allowed to use much power, but if they find a law will negatively impact society then they are allowed to veto it.
Enforcers
The three Osao Enforcers are some of the best social media experts in the Milky Way. In recent years they have done an excellent job at promoting the planet and its Legion, garnering billions of followers on Utopia.
Lawmakers
In every Space Legion are fourteen Lawmakers. These lawmakers are in charge of drafting up new laws, which are sent to the higher-ups to be authorised. The Osao Lawmakers are known to be very friendly people, and their first thought when drafting new laws is "how can this help people". It's a breath of fresh air, given that many Space Legions are somewhat corrupt and biased.
History
Slimes first ventured into space in the year 1DMS. For the next couple hundred years they attempted to form relationships with other species and other planets, but were unfortunately rejected at every attempt. Other sophonts were incredibly prejudiced against slimes, and they didn't appreciate that slimes left a small trail of slime everywhere they went.
Slimes were banned from any public gatherings, which included taverns, inns, restaurants and cafes, hotels, motels, and almost every other public area. Slimes were some of the biggest sufferers of alienism in the Milky Way at that time.
The Osao Space Legion was set up in the year 205DMS. The legion was set up to associate themselves with the other Space Legions in the Milky Way, and for them to make largescale changes to the way their people are treated in the entire galaxy. A single Space Legion is able to implement laws that affect their home galaxy, which some consider to be too much power.
During the first year of its existence, the Osao Space Legion implemented a new law that forbade the banning of slimes from public areas. Unfortunately, people found workarounds and slime repellent was quickly manufactured, which deters slimes as it contains devil flower sap, which is toxic to slimes.
Bases
Planetary Base
The Legion's Planetary Base exists in Xexiala, the third largest city on the planet. This Base is found on the outskirts of the floating city, balancing between three large bridges. It is characterised by its famous large dome made entirely of slime which lets in sunlight to keep a central indoor garden alive.
Satellite Base
The Legion's Satellite Base exists on Xivin, the planet's only moon. This moon is inhabited by the veel, small reptilian sophonts. It took three years of negotiations to allow slimes to build their satellite based on Xivin, and now each year the Legion sends 60 million gallons of water to the moon, as there is a severe shortage.
