Goblinfolk
Goblin is a generic term for a number of degenerate beings thought to have descended from fey creatures who lost their innate connection to magic.
Their number includes the highly organised hobgoblins, cruel but slow-witted bugbears, and various interbred goblin tribes that inhabit the lowlands and woodlands of northern and central Amarthaur.
It is difficult to generalise about these disparate creatures, but many are cruel, callous, self-centered, cowardly, stupid and liable to be used as minions of other more powerful entities.
Their strength lies in numbers, and often a goblin horde has been known to overrun a farmstead or small village.
They also seem to have an uncanny knack for hurting themselves accidentally in most unusual, creative and unlikely ways.
The largest known goblin settlement lies in the Dapperling Woods, where the Brownleaf tribe dwell. Recently they were organised into an unusually intelligent bugbear and moved to the Festering Caverns in the swamps to the south, and subsequently to an Elven ruin in the middle of The Old Margreve Forest.
Stories have spread that their leader was killed by an Elven ranger, and their tribe scattered by her fellowship of adventuring companions, although these remain unconfirmed.
Other notorious goblin tribes include the Horsechopper Goblins of the western Bor Nyster forest, who raid the settlements of Wolfheim, and the Brinestump Goblins that live between the Howling Hills and Dead Man's Landing in The Dragon Coast region, who frequently terrorise the farmsteads and villages around Vorgrast.
