Kender of Rothenia and Nyster
The kender are called halflings by mankind. They are split into two large ancestries: those of the Shadow Fells on the outskirts of the Bor Nyster, and those of the Rothenian plains.
The fair-skinned Nystrian kender are homely and amiable, and occasionally naïve. They have integrated themselves with both the coastal-dwelling Wolfheimers and The Kagonesti of the forest. They love to drink and make merry, and regard Elves with wonderment and awe, although they are fearful of magic and avoid the Elvish ruins of Myth Drannor, perhaps with good reason. They do, however, have an affinity for druidic healing.
In fact, it is rumoured the current Consul of Kagonost has a half-kender daughter, who is a quick-tempered but kindly druid. They say she went off adventuring with a ranger of Qualimor, a sticky-fingered shape-changing tabaxi and an odd little birdman calling himself a powerful wizard from the east. But you can’t believe all you hear…
The tattooed and olive-skinned Rothenian kender are a nomadic people, reputedly xenophobic and quick to violence. Their religion is animistic, devoid of deities, and they have a reputation as pyromaniacs. Despite their small stature they are skilled fighters, who deal with aggressors through guerrilla tactics, often using skirmishers riding axe-beaks. Whilst they get along with their forest cousins, their spirits are more closely aligned to the roving centaurs of the plains, with whom they sometimes run and hunt.
