Kingdom of Yore
Bard’s Gate is the capital of the feudal Kingdom of Yore, ruled by King Ovar with an even, but not always fair, hand. It lies centrally on the main trade route between the wealthy Sundered Kingdoms and Xiatian across the Nurian Sea. A cosmopolitan and mercantile hub, it is a rich and diverse city full of political intrigue and embroiled in the constant turmoil of its conflicting factions.
The Kingdom’s major settlements include Fairhill and Khorstead, along with smaller, sleepier towns such as Westerbridge and Falcon’s Hollow. The second-largest city in the realm is glorious Reme, the centre of a large and decadent duchy to the west that was once a part of the sprawling and powerful kingdom of Arcady (previously Akados) in the times of Barcella and Tannesh.
Although Zobeck, to the north, broke way from Yore to become its own free city state, the Borderland Provinces to the east and south, which include agricultural Duskmoon, the bustling port of Endholme, seedy, dangerous Lankhmar and the great fortress-city of Tyr, are all begrudging vassals to Bard’s Gate.
Beyond Yore’s reach are the grim settlements of The Dragon Coast, the cold lands of the Sighing Vales and the territories beyond the Icespires and within the magic-riven wastelands of the Wasted West, although colloquially these are all referred to as realms of Yore.
Currently Ovar maintains a tenuous peace, although foreign plots, poverty and conflict in the Borderlands, Orcish raids and various internal power struggles all threaten to destroy this delicate balance. Not to mention the strange blight that seems to be sickening the forests and turning its civilians increasingly to demonic cults or descending into a gibbering madness…
