Vella

okay so the idea is that this is the invisible actor between a kinvar and the arcana/anima/etc they’re manipulating. vella is how we pull the strings to make shit happen. which can be illustrated by Honn’s pospoche - she has extremely strong vella, but she just can’t hook it into arcana. anima, however, she can grab and direct. vella is a consciously-controlled manifestation of will + concentration/focus + direction/command. it’s the magical nervous system that links the caster’s mind and the caster’s ‘muscles’ (arcana).
and yes, sometimes, vella can directly affect another person without the in-between of arcana. puppeteering someone else requires vella-on-vella action (oh myyy), but anything short of that in the realm of psychic control can be done with the caster’s vella using the target’s own personal arcana directly against them (against the target’s anima, technically, which then affects the target’s vella).
