Origin of Ysteria
This article is a WIP
Around the late 1560s, four witches being chased by an angry mob came across a forest that was nothing but dead trees and brown grass way out in the sticks. Seeing an opportunity to escape, the witches conjured a thicket of sharp vines, poisonous foliage, venomous snakes, and large boulders to surround it and ward off their pursuers. Upon seeing the barriers, the mob tried to cut through them only to be rewarded with being blinded by spit venom and scratched by the vines. After an hour of trying, they gave up and returned to their town, swearing to execute the witches.
The witches breathed a sigh of relief and looked around their new home. Finding the empty forest boring, they spread magic everywhere to liven it up, turning it into a sprawling place full of life. Their magic was infused in several trees and plants, giving them, and anything that ate them, magical properties. The four witches then set up small huts with a campfire and cooking pot in the middle and settled into their new home.
A few days later, a couple of deer were drawn, seemingly in a trance, to plants and grass surrounded by a blood-red aura and ate them. Almost instantaneously, the sheer potency of the magic transformed the docile creatures into hideous and grotesque carnivorous mutants that ripped apart and drained the blood of anything that dared approach it. Upon seeing these abominations, the four witches quickly isolated them in a section of the forest and further barricaded it to prevent them from escaping. They then collectively resolved to split pure magic into four components: Body, Mind, Heart, and Soul. They were assigned to each witch as they deemed it too powerful and had to be controlled more properly. Afterward, they conducted a ritual to strengthen their assigned magic types and weaken the others.
