Wand
Wands are special items given to young witches to help them control their magic.
Appearance
Wands are, put simply, thick fancy sticks with various engravings representing certain concepts.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
The wands have a short, sharp splinter sticking out near the bottom. When the user pushes their thumb into it, it draws blood, which flows into the spaces of the engraving and is absorbed by the porous wood. This allows the user to cast spells in a safe and controlled manner.
"But it'll hurt!""Worry not, little one. It is but a small prick. It is worth the brief pain to master your magic"
Manufacturing process
A piece of a tree's bark is first removed. The missing part of the tree is then restored. Next, the broken-off bark is chiselled into a wand shape and smoothed down with only a sharp splinter remaining. The new wand is engraved with a unique symbol corresponding to a magic type. And just like that, a wand is made. Nature Magic is used throughout this process.
Significance
Magic is very powerful and hence, very dangerous. It needs to be kept under control until it can be easily mastered.
A child cannot easily control their powers and has the potential to harm herself and those around her. So when they begin their studies at a Coven academy, the child receives a wand with an engraving corresponding to their magic type.
The wand acts as a conduit enabling the safe and secure flow of the child's magic from their blood to what they cast the spell on.
I really like your explanation of the wands! There are a lot of quotes, but it all works out. Nice work!
Thank you! I think I kinda overdid the quotes though ^^;
